Isn't Watson usually shown as being not that.... smart sometimes? Or at least not as smart as Holmes. There is no way Haibara needs Conan to explain everything to her like she was a part of the audience in a detection show ><. She usually can deduct what he's thinking if he just starts it. I don't think Watson does that in the books much. It's usually "Holmes my dear fellow what on earth just happened?! Wut? If Kudo were Holmes, Miyano would still be Miyano. She's not really the type to delve into cases if she can help it - though she does kind of step up if Kudo's not available (her against Kaito in that one episode). And notably, she doesn't really share his enthusiasm.

Tbf, the character traits Conan and Holmes share are that they're both detectives and have a thing for Holmes, so it's not the like there's a sprawling list of deep parallels.
