The Finale

The Lynching

Quietly, and calmly, the crowd comes to a logical conclusion that will end the killings: Ctu must be lynched. Ctu is dragged to the gallows, and is promptly hung. It is a much less eventful ordeal than when ranger was hung: Ctu's neck just snaps on the fall. As the body is inspected, something rather squishy is found... it's two human fingers. Perhaps even more interestingly, one of them has a bow tied around it, with a note reading "From V, for G" on it. From this rather disturbing "present" that hadn't been given yet, it can only be concluded that the deceased was Vodka of the Black Organization. A roaring cheer erupts from the crowd, and they all go home to sleep peacefully, ready for the next day.

Night 3

Everyone except one. The trickster, Eisuke, stands guard outside of Sakina's home the entire night, watching, making sure nobody enters or leaves the house.

Dawn 3

The night passes uneventfully. As morning comes, Sakina is dragged forcefully from her home, and quickly hung. From the false documents in her pocket, it is revealed that Sakina was Gin, the Slanderer. The town breathes a sigh of relief as the ordeal comes to an end, although they mourn the loss of Ran, Shinichi, Yumi and Akai.

Story
[spoiler]Beika, a relatively peaceful city with the occasional murder, which only happens when certain people are around, is about to have a rude wake-up call. Two members of the Black Organization are in town, and they have orders to kill someone. However, due to lost orders, they don't know who to kill, and thus must kill everyone... will the town wake up to its first murder?

All the citizens of town go to sleep, unaware of what's about to happen...

Night of the First Day Begins.

As the citizens of Beika wake up, they're greeted by the wailing of police sirens. As they wake up, two people in the city realize their burning passion for another. As the citizens follow the police cars, they're led to a house that has had one of its windows smashed open. Rumors start to spread quickly, and it seems there's been a murder. Due to fingerprints taken from the body, and a picture of Shinichi in her wallet, it's revealed that the deceased is Ran Mouri, Townsperson (xcommando). It also seems that Ran was found with her right hand's ring and pinky fingers cut off, making it almost as if she's making some sort of morbid peace sign. The question on everyone's mind is... just where did those two fingers go?

The crowd eventually rallies into a mob, and soon everyone is calling for retribution. All citizens of Beika move to the park, and set up a rudimentary gallows. The citizens of Beika declare that someone must die today for this heinous crime! But who?

The Lynching
The yelling of the mob gets louder and louder until one name is called above the rest: ranger. In total, there were three people who were never heard, however their voices would not have been able to overthrow this majority. Ranger is dragged to the gallows, the noose is put around his neck, and he is asked if he has any last words. To this, ranger simply replied "Not yet". These words were admitted, and as the floor underneath him was opened, and ranger was hung, the crowd cheered.

As he was hung, he struggled. And he struggled some more. And he wouldn't stop struggling. And eventually, the cheering started to die down. One person piped up, "shouldn't... shouldn't he be dead yet?". He should have been, and he would have been, if he weren't such a badass. In his struggling as the crowd looked on, ranger had managed to get a dagger he'd hidden in his sleeve into his hand. He cut the rope around his hands, then the noose, and fell to the ground. As soon as he landed, he charged straight for mangaluva, screaming "I know you had it in for me, you silver-tongued slanderer! You won't get away with this, mangaluva!"

The crowd was stunned for a moment as he screamed and plunged the dagger into mangaluva's chest. Shortly after, the crowd came to their senses and beat ranger to death, rather than just standing there. It was quite the difficult task, because ranger was Shuichi Akai, the man who everyone thought was death-proof. However, because it took so long for them to punch Akai to death, nobody noticed mangaluva bleed out to death. You all felt pretty bad about that, but curiosity quickly came over you as you looked through mangaluva's belongings to find out just who she was. Rifling through her pockets, a police badge and a whistle are found: signs of a traffic cop. Indeed, it turned out from the name on the badge that mangaluva was Yumi, a townsperson who had done nothing more than pairing up couples. Somewhere nearby, one such couple silently mourns their loss, but they know this brings them one step closer to being alone together... forever...

As everyone starts to disperse, you can hear a few comments in the crowd:
"Wait, so Shuichi thought that Yumi was in the Black Organization? That's pretty funny, considering she was actually a cop and all..."
"I don't know how you could say that's funny..."
"Well, you know, like, ironic or something. It's just weird, you know? And hey, wasn't Akai in the Black Organization once? So I mean, it's sort of like we succeeded, right?"
"Aside from the fact that he was only in the Black Organization as an undercover... you know what, nevermind. I won't even bother saying it."

Oh well, you all messed up. Better luck next time!

As the day comes to its end, everyone goes to sleep a little bit earlier than usual, to try and get the thoughts of failure out of their heads...

Night of the Second Day Begins.

The sun breaks over the horizon, heralding a new day. Once again, the town is woken by the sound of police sirens. Once again, the sirens lead the townspeople to a house with a broken window. Once again, there is a victim inside. After a quick examination of the body, two things are found inside the pockets: two medicinal capsules labeled "APTX-A", and a wallet, inside which is a photo of Ran Mouri. To the horror of the townspeople, it turns out that the deceased is Shinichi Kudo (Holmes). With his passing, the townspeople feel the shadow of death looming over them all...

The remaining citizens of the town walk to the park once again, where the gallows lies. The townsolk are very somber compared to the frenzied mob of the previous day, as they all know that with the detective gone, they have lost their largest weapon against the Black Organization. And as their numbers dwindle, the Black Organization only grows stronger.

It is on this thought that the town realizes this lynching may be their final stand against the Black Organization: if one of their members is not killed during this lynching, and the lovers are killed today or tomorrow night, there will only be four people left in the town... leaving the two Org members unlynchable.

The townsfolk are quiet as they wait for the first person to speak. The future of Beika hangs in the balance...

also, by the way, if anyone looks at the action log, that was absolutely hilarious to see pop up in my inbox

not only did sakina successfully slander someone
and then kill the detective right as the detective got his slandered report
but then the doctor tried to save the detective
but the doctor was tricked by callid.

it was one long chain of unfortunate events.

Also, some things about next game, if you want me to mod it:
A) As callid pointed out with his skills, the trickster is pretty powerful in a game this size. To make things more complex, I've made up a fairly large list of characters, currently with 6 different BO and 10 different townspeople (all of which have at least some small ability), of which only a portion will make it into the game. This way, it's a little harder to deduce just who is who, because there could be several other roles they could be.
b) I'm also going to make it so that after a lynching, the votes from each player are shown, as this is how it is in a game normally and it would have an effect on one of the possible characters.

To 2: Maybe, I'll see how many people sign up next game and then maybe throw in an additional mafia member if I feel like it.
