Ok problem one about your hint is solved. I found a version then could do what you suggest. But that enter a new problem of killing the wrong victim.

Going to use this post to play the point question game

1) How did the dog get burned?

2) Did Dorny really come back from checking on the dogs?

3) How did glass end up in both the back and front of the body?

4) Why did Borner's so control everyone?

5) Kind of Glass that broke ( Solved )
Spoiler:
It is called annealed glass. See this link
6) Did the Glass really kill Dorny?

7) Was what was in the shadow real?

8) What caused the running gearwheel sound?

I think I know the answer for the 1) and 3) and I think the answer for 4) is just "he's that kind of guy".
7) Was what was in the shadow real?
Maybe you mean shadow realm? :D  Yeah, I'm Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged Series' fan.
No, seriously, what shadow are you even talking about?

This passage:

The picture presented to us was nearly as dramatic as cruel. Atop us in the shadows a body
was hanging, blood flushing down the arms. Clearly hanging upside down.

Or to put it another way was that really a body?

I think your answer to (4) is to simple. Notice these lines

Maybe you can handle this together with Borner. I trust him. He stayed with me the last few months and knows
everything he needs to know
... The only thing he doesn't – is my family.

It is almost like his actions are staged. I sure he knew what was going to happen because Dorny told him and I think he and Borner had a very long talk.

I wouldn't think about it in that way. After all everybody saw it and if it wasn't a body, well, it would be obvious.

Oh you of little imagination. It's in shadow. And IT LOOKS like a body. But a lot of fiction have things in shadow that look like bodies and turn out not to be.

If this death happened the way I think, the body would be on the ground not up in the air. Also note how long it took to get that body down, and note where everyone was when the body was on the ground. Normally. In a death case, you post a guard to watch the body while you get someone to the scene to examine the body. Note this happens BUT only after the body is on the ground. Also It seem that Borner did not do a great job of protecting the scene. The body should have stayed where it is until the police arrived.

I know and I would think about it if it weren't for Kogorou's own words "it's not very complicated".
Man, you wouldn't believe some things I thought about.

This to me like I said earlier seem staged. All actors doing their parts. But I will say that I do not believe that all were in on it.

Also you statement Kogorous - Everything you need to know will be in the story.

As I need to find out what kind of glass broke.

Some glass when it breaks, beaks into very small and not sharp pieces. I call this kind sugar glass. and the Way it breaks would not fit your story. By the way it is also called Toughened or tempered glass

Another kind of glass, your story glass, is ordinary glass window (technically called "annealed glass")

Yet another kind of glass is Laminated glass. This is the glass I meant earlier, very hard to break through.

Anyway thanks Kogorous for the research in learning about glass windows and which one you were talking about.
