after 5 rounds, Andy has 8 chips, Brian has 9 and Charlie has 10.
In every round, the looser has doubled the two winner's amount of chips.

How many did each of them have before the first round?
Spoiler:
Assuming that chips can't be cut in half, you always know who lost because you can't double into an odd number of chips.

Code: Select all

                 A       B       C

After Round 5 8 9	10  (B must have lost round 5)
After Round 4 4	18 5  (C must have lost round 4)
After Round 3 2 9	16  (B must have lost round 3)
After Round 2 1	18 8  (A must have lost round 2)
After Round 1	14 9 4  (B must have lost round 1)
Starting Chips 7	18 2
So, the starting chip count was 7 for Andy, 18 for Brian and 2 for Charlie

Okay, time for another PALINDROME | EMORDNILAP

According to some, when the first woman awoke, she asked someone "Where am I?"
This is the response she received:

" _ _ _ _ _ ,  _ _  _ _ _ _ .  _ ' _  _ _ _ _ . "

I think I have it, but I don't really have any interest in posting a riddle, so if someone else wants to answer it, go ahead. (Just don't look in the spoiler box)
Spoiler:
Madam, in eden. I'm adam .

How about this one word four letters PALINDROME. There are at least eight of them. Extra credit if you can made a palindrome out of them.

four letters ----, -----, ----, ----, ----, ----, ----, and ---- .

Extra Credit ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Are you talking about making four letter words from the letters P, A, L, I, N, D, R, O, M, E?

Let's see:
Spoiler:
Dome
Mail
Rail
More
Rind
Leap
Lord
Land

There's eight.  I'm sure there are many, many more.
Edit:  Oh wait, or are you saying that the words have to be palindromes themselves?
Spoiler:
Poop
Noon
Peep
Deed
Naan
Anna
Ma'am

That's all I can find...

the second and one more.
the extra credit part has changed using: only four letter words and at least six of them, make a palindrome

The change is they were going to be palindromes them selves, then I realized that way would only work if the same word was used each time like this noon noon noon noon noon noon because this is not a palindrome
Poop noon peep deed, unless you repeat the words deed peep noon poop

by the way the list I found has 18 four letter palindromes and three with foot notes
Proper names and foreign words are allowed

Doing like you on the first spoiler add Rome, Palm, Pale, Poem, Plan, Pain, Pram, Paid, Pore

By the way you can use other letters besides the letters in Palindrome

For C-Square and the rest - rest of the them
Spoiler:
abba, acca, adda, affa, agga, alla, amma, Anna, arra, assa, atta, avva,  azza, beeb, boob, deed, ebbe, ecce, effe, elle, emme, enne, erre, esse, goog, illi, immi, inni, issi, keek, kook, Ma'am, meem, Naan, noon, occo, Oddo, oppo, osso, otto, Otto(1), peep, poop, saas, sees, suus, toot

(bolded the ones C-Squared got)

By the way

adda, alla, amma, arra, atta, elle, emme, enne, erre, illi, immi, inni, meem, Oddo, oppo, Otto, toot  - Are also Palindromes in Palindrome that are at least four letters

Working on the extra credit part, Maybe in the future C-Square will gives us six four letter words which are a palindrome and his puzzle will look like this:

---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----. (but the way not a great one but I thought of one with internet hints

Star rats live evil star rats

Note (1) otto - variant of attar, an essential oil, Otto - a proper name
