I start simple and add  to it later. If you want to go from say Tokyo to New York in the shortest line, you go straight between the two as the crow flies. But if you could go between them in the third dimension as in going through the earth the distance would be shorter that the two dimensional method of staying on the earth surface. The distance would even be shorter if you could temporary move New York to a mile from Tokyo, like if you are by a giant door and one side is New York and the other side is Tokyo. The door example is an example of the theoretical idea of space folding.

By the way for the other problem with the wall and the two points D=X+Y where X is the distance between the Wall and point A and; Y is the distance between the wall and point b. D is a constant as long as the angle between the way and either of the two lines is never greater then 90 degrees. Mark a label of point D on the wall so the line to point A is 90 degrees to the wall. Do the same with point B and label that point E as point E moves towards point D the line we will call Line A ( A to D) gets short and line B ( B to E) gets longer. if you slide them enough then line A will equal line B.

More about how to fold point A and point B later in a later post

This is a riddle thread, not a quantum physics thread -_-u

You ask a question, I was answering it. The light / empty room is another quantum physics area.

How about a vacuum. It could fill a room, but as there is nothing in a vacuum would take up no space.

let's taki it like tis: It is ok to cause headaches for those who want to find the answer to a riddle. It is however not ok to cause headaches for those that have the answer and try to understand it

A great quote just for you and edited for you as well

There are more things in heaven and earth, Borealis,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.  . . . Hamlet

Is your answer the ONLY RIGHT answer, or are there answers out there that are more correct and currently out of your understanding?

As I believe the later, I will continue to answer questions will possible "more" correct kind of like Einstein type answers to your Newton.

.... I give up.
If you have to have some kind of top degree in al kinds of physics and cemistry to answer the "riddles" in this thread, then I don't feel like wasting more of my time here

Nah, not usually.  The 'right answer' to any riddle here has usually been the answer the questioner was looking for.  It's as simple as that.  Once the 'right' answer is given, sstimson enjoys trying to discover other possible answers that would fit the original criteria.  Often, new ideas are found that fit the criteria, but still the accepted answer is only the one that questioner was looking for.

So, no worries about having to dive into physics and chemistry here.

Well, since no one's posted a riddle, here's a tricky palindrome to keep people busy:

Just past midnight, the alarm at the milk warehouse went off.  The owner rushed over to check it, afraid that she might be the latest victim of the infamous Milk Bandit.  When she arrived, and looked for her milk stockpile this is what she found:

_ _   _ _ _ _ _ ;    _ _ _   _ _ _   _ _ _ _ _ _

It's been a while, and no takers.  So, here's a hint:
Spoiler:
What type of container does milk come in?

No trace; not one carton.
I must say, I like those palindromes even though it's often hard to come up with anything without a hint.

Okay, the next riddle is quite easy.
Even though Bob was often called a failure by other robbers, he easily got into a highly guarded building and left it without anybody preventing him from doing so. How did he do it and what was in the building?

Spoiler:
The building was a prison.
He went in because he was arrested and he came out unprevented because his time was over.

Yes, by "good" I meant "correct".

*translating this one from german and memory*

Jim never went along well with John.
But now that John was dead, Jim knew that he couldn't live without him.

Question: Why does Jim think so and why is he completely right.

Hint: Their vehicle is rubish at best now and their wardrobe was specially made for them.

Oh, this is from some book where one knows the answer and the others have to ask questions but the one who knows can only answer with yes/no/unimportant.
I later have to tell you what question I asked to get to the right track^^

Here are a few questions to start things off:

Are Jim and John human?
Are Jim and John both men?
Are Jim and John related?
Are their occupations important to solving the riddle?
Does their vehicle have wheels?
Does the vehicle fly?
Does the vehicle run on fuel?
Would it be strange to see a person wearing their wardrobe walking down the street?
By 'wardrobe', do you mean the clothes they are currently wearing?
Did John die within the past six hours?
Was John murdered?
Did John commit suicide?
Did John die in an accident?
Is there anyone else with Jim and John?
Are Jim and John alone?
