I sometimes wonder if you can actually enjoy a series, Kor. xD
lol sorry.
I do enjoy the series, but I prefer to point out what I didn't like about the chapter/story than what I did like. It's not just specific to manga, I used to do that in literature classes as well. Why do I do that? It's easier for me to point what I didn't like as opposed to what I did like. It's a bit lazy, but I assume that since I'm still with the series, people can understand that I like it at least on some level.
Also I don't think that "criticizing it" equals "not enjoying it".
...That said, this is Shonen so I might be exaggerating sometimes. Thanks for pointing it out, though.
Well Kor, sorry I misunderstood you. You gave me that impression because I don't remember once you didn't criticize xD I thought maybe you were a "masochist" who followed a series even though you disliked it haha
Theory:
"Zeref" actually was a dragon. To be precise; He was one of the dragons who were fighting alongside humans.
Somehow, however he got turned into a human. This is the "curse" he is talking about in chapter 250.
Because he still had the power of a dragon in the body of a human, it began to leak, except if he was blocking it with his mind and subconsciousness.
(At least for me) this explains the whole "importance of (human) life"- issue
What I also found interesting is that he said in chapter 250 (at least in the translation on MangaHere) "One of the obsessions from the people misbelieving in the black mage Zeref ..." This seems to imply that there are a lot of bulls*** rumors about him, the biggest being that he was a "black mage"

Following you hypothesis: what if Zeref is the Dragon who gave Acnologia his power?

Spoiler:
I actually thought that maybe he was the one who first wanted to work with humans. Or he might be the one who first gave people dragonslayer powers.
I also had the theory that he was turned into a human because of the same reason why Acnologia(?) was turned into a dragon (or it was the reason)
Want to go further?
Well, in one of the first translations, that one dragon's last words are "Because of you..." after talking about the reason he died.
So what if that man snapped because a close family member got a deadly wound? And that relative was Natsu?

I have to start writing Fan Fictions.

Also, we still don't know why Natsu and Gajeel were blocked by the age barrier during the Laxus arc, maybe it has relation to what's happening right now.
Due to the newest chapter 302, I think that someone from the past is going to come to the present and fight Acnologia.
OK, Hands up everyone who thinks Zeref will turn out to be a good guy? *raises hand*
Ps: TimeTravelerLucy looks the most plausible theory right now.
Why from the past? It seems more like a future traveler.
Oh and I agree Zeref is not the typical bad guy.

EDIT: just watched the new ep of FT, did they mention which "element" (light and shadow) Rogue and Lecter were in the manga (I mean at the beginning of the arc)? If not, the anime has just spoiled it.
