Ran's role changed? Other's too?

Her behaviour in the Bourbon-case gotta be important.

It would be interesting if they suspect Kogoro again and that leads to a Ran predicament.  If Burbon is as good as BO hired him for, he will link their problems back to him.  If he's even better, he will sight Conan as the problem and put her and his most important people in danger.  Either way Ran is most likely going to be involved some way if Burbon comes into fruition.

Haibara well... she already played "damsel in distress" multiple times.  I wonder if she's going to play that everytime the B.O. shows up or what?

I really hope Ran isn't going to be damsel in distress yet again.  I had enough of that from the movies already *shudders*.  Well,I guess it won't be so bad since Gosho has a more elegant way of doing things... but still!  I thought the worse mistake you can do is underestimate a woman? 

Ran's character change is pretty much expected...she is the main love interest of the main character afterall ^^.

Lol Ran hurting innocent people xD, that is if you consider Okiya innocent.  For all we know, he might deserve it later xD.

Ran's one of my most favourite characters, but I suppose most people don't think that way, mainly because she seems rather "undeveloped".
However, I partly blame the length of the story. I mean, there have been several times Ran suspected Conan to be Shinichi for instant. And I personally found that quite repetitive after a few times. =/
So, what else is there for Ran to do atm?
Yeah, getting in trouble and being rescued, which happened often enough as well.
Kicking some gangster's ass or trying to get Kogoro & Eri back together.
Plus waiting for Shinichi, and that's basically what's she's doing now I think. After all, that's more or less the most important part she has to play.
Looking back at what you could learn about her during the story, I don't believe she is "shallow", it's just that there is nothing that's being focused on in particular at the moment...

In any case, I also hope she'll get some attention in the future plot development... ^^

I said in the DCTV chat that I want to see Conan becoming so obsessed with the Black Organization and trying to stop them and find the cure (most likely being triggered by Ran almost being killed or someone important being killed) that he only focuses on that. It would be interesting seeing what Ran would do if Shinichi disappeared from phone calls as well for a while and it could make her an interesting character again.

Anyone else remember when Ran could actually be cool? When are they going to drop the claim that she's a "heroine" from the official profiles? 'cause that's just not happening anymore... At all...

Hm... when she and Makoto beat the gangsters up, that was kinda cool. Lasttime she used her karate was knocking down Okiya, because he was a stranger in Shinichi's bathroom. I wouldn't call that cool, but the movement was awesome. It is still fearful to be misunderstood by Ran.  But in that case she was kinda cool, saving that paperfly-guy.

At that pont I really hoped for some progress, but it seems to me that the story stuck again. We had the Shiragami-case, which was so-so, without a cool Ran. After that we had 1 Okiya-Ai file and tons of "fillers". Though I like them of course and at the "Scar" case I felt that the blind woman (or Gosho through her) is giving a hint "I can see things" etc. And I though/hoped that after that we might get a Ran-Shinichi thing, or a suspicion or something. But Ran seems to be, again still a side-character. Needless to say it is Gosho' fault for dragging the story so slowly. >.>

I have my hopes for some Ran-shining moments in our long-awaited Okiya-Bourbon-clash, but... I miss those cases, where Ran could get actually more suspicious on Okiya or something. How do we expect a Bo case at 700 if we don't even have these episodes? @.@

Well, at least now we know that she is good in Chinese proverbs, or Three Kingdoms or whatever. Buuut...

I think Okiya dodged the kick (and trying to kick a non-hostile person wearing glasses in the face was kinda nasty of her in the first place, burglar/squatter or not). Doesn't matter, Ran was still cool when she rescued "paper-fly-guy". I saw people (ie Haibara fans) griping that she needed Shin'ichi to do it, but we all know she could have busted through the front door if she wanted to be completely reckless instead of stealthy. She shouldn't really be expected to know the necessary trivia about the layout of the fire escapes in buildings like that to come up with the plan herself, so asking Shin'ichi for a plan was wise, not dependency*. Maybe less reckless would be to wait for the police, but Ran being there to protect the hostage if the officials came in through the front (like they did) just in case there was a living accomplice who could threaten the hostage was something a "heroine" should do.

She's shown some insight and knowledge since then, though that almost always turns out superfluous to the mystery plot (not her fault she's overshadowed like everyone else by the know-it-all title character). That might still satisfy me if I hadn't been seeing her {specials and movie trailer spoilers}

* Kinda disappointing she knows enough anatomy and physiology to associate motion sickness with her semi-circular canal and is well practiced at bandaging from her younger days with Shin'ichi yet never learned enough first aid to know how to deal with dehydration. It wouldn't have been a surprising skill to give her (unlike the know-it-all's Tarzan tree travel). But, she was still cool.

What happens? It's not like she's not being used in the stories, she's just not being useful in the stories. She still gets plenty of dialogue, so it's not like she's being sent off to karate class to allow more dialogue for one of those 50 "more interesting" characters. She's just not getting situations where she can be useful anymore, which just makes her appear even less interesting. Worse, she's now {specials and movie trailer spoilers}

My initial fanboy response is to say 'no, Ran's the most interesting character', but then that's the thing, 'interesting' is a completely subjective descriptor.  As such, your suggestion that there is some sort of causal effect of Ran's 'uninterestingness' is ridiculous.
