Back then, though, Conan didn't predict Haibara's actions and it was only thanks to Ran that she was saved. Even though currently it seems like Conan's team is ahead of the B.O., I don't think this whole operation will go without any screw up.
Another difference is that Haibara wasn't supposed to be in the Vermouth showdown. This time she is there so her life is actually on the line because of this plan.
I hope this is not the case, it would be a shame for Shiho not to play a role in her destiny.

That is my feeling and I hope that this is the case. As much as I like Ai/shiho as a character, as much as I hate her reactions when it comes to confronting the BO , so it would be a change if she actually take part
