...You know, with studies like this, I have to wonder how they're brought up

"Hey, let's see who cheats more: creative people or non-creative people!"
"How is that going to help humanity?"
"If people are called creative, they'll know that they're statistically more inclined to cheat so it'll be easier for them to get away with it!"
"...Shouldn't we prevent things like-"
"I DID MY TIME STUDYING, WHY ARE YOU ACCUSING ME OF THAT, BILL?"

@above: ...

Anyway...
[me=Stopwatch]is wondering how creativity is measured[/me]

I mean, most people don't say, "I'm 165ytivitaerc points so I'm obviously more creative than you~!". So... if that part of it isn't that accurate, their results'll probably be skewed :-\ (though I reckon the creative ones are still slightly more likely to cheat for the reasons everyone else has said :-X)

I wondered too. Probably with some kind of IQ test questions.

Also, I just noticed that this test is not like a real test in the outside world. Because it's lacking "consequence".
If you cheat in that test, you will be thrown out and would just not get 5$, if thrown out at all. (They weren't thrown out at all, but that's what people would assume if they would cheat in that study)

In a school test etc. if you cheat and get caught, you fail automatically, which is a harsher consequence. This could prevent people more from cheating.

@video: Oh god that was hilarious xD

@Stop and Kleene: That is a good question. I mean...do you just...get them to...draw...or...something?  :| How do you measure creativity?

And Kleene's point about no consequences is also very legit. I mean...if they said you could get the most money by cheating and that you could cheat with no punishment...wouldn't you, I don't know, cheat?

There's no reason not to cheat  :|

The people taking part do not know that they are part of an experiment meant to test whether they will cheat or not (if that's what you're implying).

This whole thing is something I could totally buy. I know a lot of people who are creative and don't do their work for school. And so I have to constantly hide my homework because of that. (Probably explains why I'm not very creative too, huh?  :P)
Knowing the truth and knowing what to do with the truth are two completely separate ideas. Learn to distinguish them. OR ELSE.

I would like to know exactly how they selected these kids. XD

Wouldn't having a room full of nothing but creative kids who actually study and learn and pay attention in school or creative kids who feel BAD about cheating prove this wrong? XD Did they PURPOSELY pull kids with bad grades in or...?

And how do they determine how creative they are?

Questions, questions...

Well As I think out side the box a question. There are some that can find short cuts that work for them better then the normal way and I use myself as an example. There are times I have trouble substituting two numbers like 13 from 8, but using the rule of add something (in this case 2) to both changes the problem from 13 - 8 to 15 - 10 = 5. Some might call this cheating. But I think it is only a different way to do the same thing. Is it cheating?

.... Who in their right mind would call that cheating? :o

I do that all the time! It's simply an acquired trick you do by yourself to work out a problem. There are many different ways to do all kinds of math problems and that's just another way. =w=

It actually wasn't what I was implying xD It just doesn't seem like they mentioned that they would be penalized for cheating. You know, like how in school if you cheat you get an automatic fail to discourage you from doing it.

And even if they weren't told they were in an experiment, they were told about the money right? D: *rereads article*
