also I'd just like to point out

— If you sign up, you will receive a gift. Even if one is not sent by the person assigned due to inactivity, a replacement will be ordered and it will be delivered. Similarly, if we end up with an odd number, you will still receive a gift. Hype!

this part sounds a bit weird to me because even with an odd # of people, everyone should be able to get an assignment, the only way even/odd #s of participants would result in someone not getting a gift would be if you were pairing people up for the gifts, which would make the whole "suspense" aspect moot because you'd know who was getting you a gift.

Originally (as in, when I originally typed up the basis for this year's lottery last weekend), there was a different system in place that would've made more of a "game" out of it (it's an idea I had last year in the course of the original Lottery but didn't use, but it didn't rely on traditional pairings). I since changed it to being purely random and have edited that bit. Many thanks!
