If we compare the 1st opening with the latests

There is a huge difference :o

the first is light-hearted, funny, has a catchy old fashioned song

Now we have all these sad video clips with Ran crying like a baby, Conan running for no apparent reason, Haibara no longer being a mysterious character but a member of a juvenile club. Kinda breaks the mood... (I'm not saying I dislike them ones though)

Haibara isn't exactly mysterious anymore- she's opened up to said group and that's probably why. XD

No explanation for the Ran crying thing.

I have a theory that the Conan running thing is foreshadowing on the possible end of DC.

X was better at the beginning because it was X and now it is Y, so it is worse.

Without a pointless animated dancer taking up half of the opening and without the other half being filled with crappy romance.

An example would be 'Mysterious Eyes'.

well to be fair, 95% of my enjoyment from OPs is usually the actual music (the dancer was so bad that the other 5% ruined the entire thing)

I like the old opening better.  They actually stress the whole this is a DETECTIVE SHOW WHERE PEOPLE DO DETECTIVE THINGS instead of adding more umbrellas/goldfish/shells/random imagery that makes no sense.  The skateboarding thing actually includes dodging things (running after criminals) instead of going to no where.  Ran scenes show her teasing nature and Conan's protectiveness instead of him making her cry.

When it comes to the openings, I always lower my standards so that if something good happens I'll be pleasantly surprised. So that's why my spirits are always up rather than down. I suggest doing the same.

Spoiler: non-opening related opinions
On the other hand, I've always hated the majority of the endings, and I will until the end of time. They're just too slow-paced and ridiculous. My favorite parts are always the episode recaps.

The anime itself is also going downhill. It's gradual, but happening. Which is why I see it possibly being cancelled before long. (Highly unlikely, but possible.)
Knowing the truth and knowing what to do with the truth are two completely separate ideas. Learn to distinguish them. OR ELSE.
