The Anime Timeline

In order to know which episodes to watch when, I have compiled the following lists. They are my attempt at inserting the non-canon items into the known canon of the episodes in a smooth fashion.

My rules for arranging:
1. Arrange by airdate. If the airdate is vague, guess.
2. If an arc or multi-part episodes are in the way, put it after what's already there.
3. Arrange in a logical order (aka Movie 15 is before Magic File 5, but Movie 13 is after Magic File 3).
4. If any in-episode dates are mentioned, match it with the date, if it's not the same as the airdate.

Included is my placement of the movies, ovas, and specials in the main timeline. This is my take on it, but if you feel that non-canon stuff should not be included, then just ignore it. I also have all the airdates I could find, as well as manga references. Anything marked 'TV Original' just means that it is not based on anything regarding the manga. This includes all the OVAs, movies, and Live Actions.

All episode names come from the Detective Conan World wiki, and the airdates and manga references also come from there.

Notes:

I base the anime timeline on airdate because I assume Detective Conan to be a timeless anime. Meaning that no matter how much time passes in the real world, the time in DC stands still for the characters, but not for technology. That's why DC episode 1 comes before MK episode 1, even though MK technically comes first.
The majority of Movie 1 takes place on May 3, which is why it doesn't follow the airdate.
Movie 3 takes place in late August, so that's why it is out of place.
Movie 13 takes place on Tanabata (aka July 7).
OVA11 takes place before the main London Case, but only after about 1/3 of the first episode has aired, which is why it's at the end.
The 2011 Live Action series consists of many flashbacks culminating in a day, so I have listed the series in Season 20 as one 'episode'. I have created another spoiler outside of the main spoilers that lists the episodes.

Anybody with any problems with how I set things up should make their thoughts known.

Seasons 4 and 5 ADDED! This also includes the first two movies, The Time-Bombed Skyscraper and The Fourteenth Target! Try and find them!

All right, I won't guess. I only ask that someone check to make sure I put down the correct file numbers for the Gosho Aoyama's Short Stories. 1-3 are in Season 6 and 4-7 are in Season 7. Many thanks!

^ The date of the heist was the evening of August 22 and early morning of August 23, and the rest of the movie was either that same day or the next day. That's why I moved it.

Also, I'm contemplating the Episode 304 Special with the 12 million hostages and the Tokyo Tower bombing. It aired in January, but the bombing takes place on November 7. Should I put it in January or a November?

I just rewatched the episode, and they are indeed on the 6th. It would appear as if SOMEBODY got the date wrong on the wiki, and I didn't catch it since it's been a while since I've seen this episode. I probably should've expected it though, since the anime staff always matches in-episode dates to the airdates, apart from a few movies.

EDIT: Seasons 1-11 are now up! I also jumped the gun and put up the 2011 Live Action Series.

A double post, but oh well; nobody has replied since. This post is to mark the point in time that all the lists are finally up. Hooray! To anybody confused about where to insert movies and ovas into the timeline should have no more problems. Anybody confused about episode titles, numbers, or airdates should have no more problems.

And just for the record, I will update the list at regular intervals, so if nobody replies, expect more double, triple, and quadruple posts from me.

only skimmed things, but I noticed:

so you're putting the MK episode where he finds out she's a witch in roughly the 600s. However, I forget which episode it is, but in one of the early appearances of Kaito in the DC anime, doesn't Kaito list off all of his classmates, introducing Akako as a witch? If that's the case I'd think the MK episodes should go a lot earlier, unless that breaks something else.

I just realized there's a Conan cameo in the Magic Kaito episode that introduces Akako but Shinichi is in that first part of episode 219 that has Akako.

Technically, Akonyl, you would be correct. However, the Conan cameo and the modern technology in all Kid specials screws everything up doesn't it? Here's my logic: 'Conan' is a timeless anime. The manga isn't as much as the anime. Therefore, I treat all the Kid specials as flashbacks to prior events, with the Conan and DB appearances are there because it's the DC timeslot and Conan has to appear for the special to air. (MK1 first aired on Animax, so this wasn't an issue). I discard the Conan cameos because they don't impact the overall story, and I consider the modern technology as the anime team's way of making it appeal to modern viewers . That's why I put the Kid specials where they are: they aren't happening between the DC episode before it and the episode after it; they actually happened a long time before but are only being documented now.

219 is weird. The first 1/3 is the clock tower, which includes Akako. My reasoning: another flashback (yes, I know, it's repetitive). The incident is a flashback from Kaito during the Black Star heist in 076. While it's uncredited, I consider that whole portion also as a flashback, which explains why it's in the anime so much later. The rest of 219 are the current events. As for the Conan cameo, I've already explained that. (And I agree it hurts the brain to think about this.)
