Random Poll of the Day! (528)

If you have some randomness to share that you can't post elsewhere, this is the place to do it.

How many hours do you usually work/study in a week?

Poll runs till October 15th, 2053, 5:47 am

I don't have something "usual". It's truly random in my case.

Maybe 20? Classes come to about 12 hours, and then there's essays, reading plays and rehearsals...

Right now in my short-term course, I spend a maximum of 15 hours in school every week. But that depends on the teacher if she wants to dismiss us early or not.

Back when I was still a call center agent, I spent more than 50 hours every week in the workplace. Forty hours were spent in actual work, 7.5 hours (450 minutes) were reserved for break time, and there's always that tendency to do overtime for 1-2 hours everyday due to escalated calls or complicated concerns.

Yeah, that came up after I posted. Evidently, it is now the ghost post.

If you want to eat turkey then eat turkey. Why do you need a special holiday for that?

oh god

at first I was like "what's up with you kor why are you posting 'what's on your mind' in your work poll thread"

and then I realized... my post to manga's post (which she's replying to) has become ghosted as well now. And nom's post is gone too (though she may have just deleted hers)... :I

well neither do I (at least why it's in here, not the WOYM thread), but my attention was driven elsewhere when I noticed the missing posts.

It's the ghost of Thanksgiving.

Basically, I asked some people what's with all the Thanksgiving hype, and the first thing all of them say is "Well you see, there's turkey and other food...."

If you ask people what the point of thanksgiving is, lots of them probly won't give you a straight answer because they feel silly saying "It's a holiday that we use as an excuse to have extra days off, eat lots of food and be fat and lazy", but in essence that's what it is.

And it's awesome.

My roommates asked me what Thanksgiving was. Being of an occasionally cynical bent, I told them that it was a celebration of the day that settlers received lifesaving food supplies from the natives and in return gave them Smallpox Blanketstm. They got confused, so I settled for "Christmas dinner a month early without presents".

on the contrary, they're such good presents that if I got one, I couldn't bear the thought of someone else being deprived of such a wonderful blanket. So please, give them to everyone else. I'm just that nice a guy.

Don't forget three football games instead of one, followed by ridonculous sales pretty much everywhere (even got a Black Friday ad for Papa Johns this week) the day after!
