I know far fewer people who like Eragon than Twilight, and I didn't notice nearly the volume of cliches, either (though I actually enjoy the series, so maybe that's why I didn't notice them).  Perhaps the Twilight fans are just more vocal?

I've seen the first film. Isn't it kind of weird that all of Edward's brothers/siblings are a couple with one another?

The first film.... because I was literally forced to. =-=

I wasted 2 and a half hours of my life.

Love...? You call obsession, possessiveness, suicide attempts, and teenage marriage/pregnancy love? Stephanie Meyer may be married and have children but OBVIOUSLY the husband ISN'T doing his job as a husband. xD

Commi-Ninja wrote:Perhaps the Twilight fans are just more vocal?

Of course they are. They're mainly love-struck teenage girls who don't have a good boyfriend, don't have a boyfriend, or find lack of originality in love stories compelling. XD

But I'm being too hard on her. She's a good writer.... she just needs to separate herself from her fantasies.  ::)

Maybe. I didn't hate Eragon, it was just... mediocre. I just didn't find anything very inspiring about it. The setting had no outstanding elements, the characters were mostly forgettable, it would have been way more interesting if the dragon wasn't super knowledgeable from birth and the author actually spent time on its growth and flaws which I thought was the best part of the book (although short) IMO, there was a severe imbalance of power between the races/roles, and the plot was a very typical go out on a quest through the world. The only thing I still remember being fond of is the magic language system, probably because it was the first "words are power" magic setup I had encountered.

Ah, yeah.  Plenty of it is forgettable.  There were some good characters, but even they could only help so much.  The final book, Inheritance, which came out at the beginning of this month, actually had some pretty decent character development by the end, which helped to actually make it far more interesting than the prior books.

On the Eragon subject, I'd put the books in this order:
-Brisingr
-Eragon
-Eldest
Haven't yet got hold of Inheritance yet, I think the author has really improved at some stuff over the books though...

Anyway, back to the topic, I attempted to read the first Twilight book, because of the things I'd heard about it, but it just got a bit ridiculous and I gave up *usually hates giving up on books D:*

I will not count listening to a classmate in my Forensics/Debate class acting out one of the scenes in the book as reading Book 2, or that Buffy vs. Edward video as watching the movie, so... I've read/watched none of them.

On the other note, I liked the Eragon books I've read, but not to the point of anticipating the next book. (Only reason I knew it came out recently was because it was the most popular book bought off of Barnes & Nobles when I was looking for a book to buy from there a couple weeks ago. :-X)

Burn!!!

Seriously being forced to watch Twilight was torture enough. But being forced to watch Breaking Dawn part I (while hating the series and not having watched the the 2 films) was just too much.

I was forced to watch movie one.... but to see the.... what number is it....? Whatever.

To see THAT one too must have been a death wish.

I agree with the order you listed.  Eldest was definitely the worst of them.  Inheritance I would put as the best, however, which is unusual for me as it's the final book.

Read and watched them all. I liked the books alright the first time I read them, but every time I reread I hate Bella and Edward and the general subtext of the books more and more. (I've only reread twice.)

I've got a friend who regularly drags me to the movies with her. I only go along these days because Taylor Lautner doesn't like wearing shirts.
