Why is Kid in Conan's universe???

I've just watched Kid 4. After seeing dark magic (not a trick, real magic) in Kid's world, I don't understand how Kid's universe can be considered the same as Conan's. I want to engage this discussion from DC's perspective and I want to hear your thoughts on this.

If Voodoo Dolls and witches are real in Kid's world, and Kid's world intertwine with Conan's. Doesn't this mean Black magic exists in Conan's world? Then DC can potentially have a case where the murderer is an actual spirit! The over-the-top, supernatural setting of kid just doesn't fit with Conan's. I can accept his ability as a super-magician, I can accept his engineering talent, I can even accept his ability to defy physics (let's be honest, conan does it sometimes). But to have real magic exist, I can't hold my suspension of disbelief, I just cant. IMO Kid should not be in Conan's universe, he should just exist in his own.

Simplest explanation: Easter Egg.


Conan wasn't in the Magic Kaitou manga. Basically his appearance is an extra put in by the animators for the pure joy of people going "Oh, hey look there!"

Well, that's the very reason Akako is forever banned from DC. XD She's the only character in MK that can do real magic and as long as Gosho keeps her out APPARENTLY everything revolves around "reality" and "facts". I'm willing to bet you one of these days the DB would really see a ghost. (For example: When they were all stuck in that village and Ayumi had the whole interaction with the ghost girl. I refuse to believe that you can see facial features, clothes, eyes, and hair from fog. LET ALONE match her "random" description of a girl who DIED years before. I refuse. I've seen fog before and never have I mistaken for it to be a person. What Conan said was a load of bull. XD Not to mention at the end of the case Ayumi said she just STOOD there. She didn't say she spoke or anything like that. Suspicious? I think so.)

The point is I think he just is trying to let the readers know that KID isn't dead. If he didn't include him in Detective Conan the way he does do you think anybody would remember him unless they read about Gosho and his work? He's probably just there so he doesn't become a REAL phantom. XD *Is hit upside head for bad pun*

Really Gosho can't resist having his Holmes character face off against his Lupin character.  I mean look at that carefully constructed build up to the reveal of the thief being Kid in vol 16. The man must have had a blast planing that out. Kid is also in the perfect position to stay Conan's rival he can't get caught and he also can't be over used because well up until about 2 weeks ago I'd have said Gosho still wants to get back to that story at some point.  Kid being around also lets Conan show off a bit and despite Conan's apparent age Kid does respect him.

It's not the same universe. That's about it.

IMO, Conan's universe and Kid's universe are never the same in the first place. In Conan's universe, there's a logical explanation to almost every trick out there. The explanation itself is quite believable, though not practical at times.  The mere presence of Kid in DC universe never deters that.
For instance, if Kid does a mid-air walk then Conan comes up with an explanation to the aforecited trick. But in the MK universe, you don't expect a how-he-dunnit.

Agree! I never liked kid too. And MAYBE gosho was telling us that in the oh-so-logical-world, things that cannot be explained (like black magic) actually exists. Anddd

Erm some people say that its a high possibility that KID's involved with the BO. For example he's looking for a germ which provides erm stuff that can make one immortal and the BO wants that stuff too and blahblah and they make a contract with each other and KID is scar akai. I think so too. This means that without kid, the story wont conclude. Or progress.

That was the animation staff having their fun, Gosho was not involved. As far as canon is concerned, there's still only logic

Kid appeared in the manga because Aoyama felt like having a little gimmicky nod to the fans of that serious, and he became a major-league dark horse.

As for Akako's magic? MST3K mantra.

Why the ? Gosho abandoning (some kind of) logic would be the worst thing that could happen to DC.
