I've figured it out

Postby sonoci » October 18th, 2011, 5:16 pm

Why Gosho uses childhood pairings so much, that is

Now, originally it was a unique idea just meant for Shinichi and Ran, but then Gosho noticed that his manga was getting popular and that it might last for a while. So, he begins to make more childhood pairings for the sake of the readers: if they began reading as a child and bonded with others over it, years later when the couples in the manga got together, those DC fan couples in the real world would get together. He did this because his love life was bad and he didn't want others to have the same fate.

I think it's fairly possible! ^_^

... But one couple would have just been enough. XD That's the only complaint I have to this idea. Everything else... somehow seems like something Gosho would do. XD I read that he was a hopeless romantic somewhere before... of course they're probably wrong.  :-X

Oh well. We'll have to wait until somebody asks him about it in an interview! XD

@Parkus: You refuse to believe anything when you're in the right mood :P

@IHKF: But if there was only one, it wouldn't seem as likely to work out for the real life people. So, adding more than one made young readers go "Hey, maybe this can happen" and voila! Gosho a hopeless romantic... Hopeless? Yeah. Romantic? No.  :-X

*goes to interview Gosho*

Well why add it to Magic Kaito, too? Wasn't Magic Kaito made before Detective Conan? XD

I think maybe just Kaito and Aoko and Shinichi and Ran would have been enough then. To have three different couples with almost the exact same back-story is kind of... overkill. XD As it is didn't they already make their parents childhood friends too (or at least highschool friends?)

It's true, he doesn't. XD

Over 600 episode and over HOW many volumes, Gosho.... *shakes head* he must be addicted to stress.

My guess as to the reason for all the childhood love stories: They're easy to write and don't require any effort to be put forth for relationship development :P

I think that beeing childhood friends is the perfect excuse to avoid a lot of files explaining how they met each other... It's easier to develop the relationships in this way.

And we all know that the main storyline is about the BO, so...

And he doesn't realize how inherently creepy it is. I had a whole (mildly drunken) discussion about this with two guy friends of mine whom I've known since primary one. We all feel like it's creepy. When I tried to think of myself ever dating either of them, it didn't work. I love them to bits, I've known them fifteen years, but it would be like dating my little brother. Weird, creepy, no.

I guess for some people it might work (mainly, I suspect, only children >_>) but it seems like in Gosho's universe, nobody marries anybody that they met before they were twenty. (Other manga are guilty of this too, but generally not to the point of almost every minor character having a childhood love interest. I'm waiting for Yumi's gradeschool crush to appear on the scene.)

Sato and Takagi seem to be the only exception~ As for the 'osana najimi' thing, maybe he's just fond of it - DC afterall is very idealistic.

As a side note, does anybody why Aoyama divorced Takayama Minami?

They basically said "no comment" about it, so the public doesn't really know.

that Chiba case that never happened had no thought to it, that's impossible. It existed purely to do something between two larger cases.

I thought childhood pairings in manga and anime were pretty common... Maybe that's actually something that happens in Japan a lot? Especially maybe for people in Gosho's generation?
