What promted you guys to read/watch detective conan?

Well, maybe there was a thread like this already but, I really wanted to know what made you guys watch or read detective conan

Curiosity after catching the tail end of a fansubbed version of movie 3 at an anime convention when I was just starting high school.

My friend used to watch it on her computer, and she told me it was really fun. So I started to watch with her.

(I used to hide behind her at the murder parts. XD)

Moved to this country and continued elementary schooling, saw the premiere episode on Animax, when I was in grade 4 I believe. I was fascinated, delighted, amused, surprised, and hungered for more. Followed the series until now. I attribute the foundation of my love for mystery to Scooby Doo because that dog, his gang and the mystery machine started this madness fandom.

It was the first time I could watch the very first episode of an anime, so I was technically glued to the TV when this "new" anime was aired. 2002... never forget! <3 And needless to say I became a fan after watching it. xD

I watched my first episode once on local TV back when I was........ either in High School or Elementary. I can't really remember now - it's been more than 10 years since. ^^ Forgot about it then just recently started watching again. XD It's a detective anime/manga, why not? XD

Well, I wanted to see how Shinichi and Ran will get back together and how their relationship will go, in addition to how he will get his body back and when  ;D

My brother read the manga and said it's great, so I also started to watch the anime with him and later the manga.

My first experience with DC was in 2008, when it used to air here dubbed. Soon after that, it disappeared from its time slot and it never aired again. I was in 10th grade or so back then and I got involved with school work. Then in 2010, I somehow came across DC( I honestly don't remember how) and then I learned about DCTP. From then all, it was a race for me and i managed to catch up with at least the plot related episodes. Right now, I am trying to catch up with fillers as well, while waiting for the new releases.

The plot of DC easily managed to hook me to it, the very first time itself.

I used to be heavily into InuYasha, and the fansite that I read it on regularly advertised Detective Conan, since they ran together in Shonen Sunday. After InuYasha ended, I decided to go check it out. I read it on Onemanga for a while, until I noticed that the recent chapters were all from the same scanlator, someone called "DCTP". I googled it, lurked on the site for a while for recent chapters, eventually joined the forums out of curiousness, and then I REALLY got into DC XDXDXDXD

I saw the manga in my local library ,and it immediatly became one of my favorites

My friend and his nephew used to watch the dub on Adult swim when it was out and would talk quite a bit about it. My friend kept saying that i needed to watch, but it wasn't till about a year and a half ,almost two years ago, that I actually finally decided to try it out. after watching the first episode I was addicted, and still am.

I really do wonder why I waited so long to try this series out.

well I watched it once on Adult Swim and enjoyed it. Despite not thinking too much about it I was interested in its fairly unique premise and I found the episode to be stronger and more appealing.

So my computer died in late 2005 and I didn't get a new one until 10 months later. Youtube clearly became huge at this point so I started using that site fairly quickly. Wanted to watch some Case Closed or Detective Conan or "whatever it would be called on youtube" and there was NOTHING for it on youtube (unlike nowadays).

Year and a half later a friend of mine on a message board had a Conan avatar and stuff and I asked him where to watch some episodes. He showed me DetectiveConan.US and the rest was history.
