no, if anything the english should have increased ratings as more people started watching after the episode filled with english aired

My native language is Portuguese, yet I often find myself thinking in English, so no, it's not that weird.

It still is in her case. You actually have occasion to use English on a daily, regular basis (especially in your online interactions). From what we know about Minerva, that isn't really the case. Beyond that, this is English to Japanese--quite a monumental leap compared to Portuguese and English.

What bothers me is... well, why is the culprit thinking in Japanese now?

Since this is a japanese production, the mere fact that they actually hired some english speaking VAs, even though they don't speak the language as much as they could, should be enough for the foreign fans not to complain.

Viewing rates for the London arc
EP 616 - 7.2%
EP 617 - 8.6%
EP 618 - 9.4%
EP 619 - 8.8%
EP 620 - 9.9%

Average 8.78%

yes, they hired a british english instructor (see credits) to match spelling and such, but rates were highest when Hades began thinking in japanese.

The quality of the episode itself really doesn't have much to do with the ratings. What seems to determine Conan's weekly ratings isn't really what's on in Conan--it's what else is on, period.

Good point!  That would be pretty easy to spot.

For me, this ep was just too far out there.  Tennis braille?  How does Conan know English braille anyway?!?

Conan knows everything.  >:D

Except who the Boss is  :-X

What if he does knows but doesn't tell?

this would only be the case if both Hades and Minerva's mom (forget her name) were high up enough in the stands that the angle difference between her mom and her would be that noticeable, which I don't think it would be because they're relatively low-down and the distance to the field is fairly far.

And I would expect someone to be keeping their camera steady, why would someone filming a tennis game be following the ball with their camera/ movign their camera for some other reason? If they're trying to capture the game, they're gonna stay focused on the whole court.

That is a good answer. However, is it just me that feels the london cases are dragging a bit. I thought that 620 was gonna end the series.

10 chapters, 6 episodes, the ratio is actually bigger than the usual 3 chapters, 2 episodes. However, the case being a bit streched in the manga, it basically condemns the anime.
