A 12-hour drive, while long, isn't unheard of at all.  Let alone if you take a small plane, which wouldn't be very hard or nearly as time consuming.

So, how is this failing?
Switzerland is A LOT closer to London than to Tokyo. There should be a direct flight to Bern (~1h) and then it's another hour of driving or so. Or you could go the whole way by car.
No-one ever said that the Reichenbach Falls were in England - the name sounds very German anyway -  and I'm fairly sure that Gosho knows where they are.

I like to point out that if Conan saw this mistake made in a mystery series, he'd hunt the writer down and drop the no killing rule.
