I'll watch but I'm not expecting much. The problem with the live action adaptations I've seen previously, and not just the DC ones, is that they try to copy certain aspects of the manga and anime and it simply doesn't work. There are some things that need to be toned down. The reason manga an anime has certain cliches and visual elements to express emotions and get points across is because they don't have proper actors and have to use the animation to bring the drawings to life.

With live action a lot of that has to be completely done away with or limited. Some things work in the anime (like Gin's wardrobe and long hair) but when you see an actual person with that appearance it looks stupid. This is a problem a lot of super hero movies had in Hollywood for the longest time. They continuously made the characters too animated in their personalities and behaviors. A good example is Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Uma Thurman's characters in Batman Returns. That type of loud character works in a comic book or animated show but it does not work with actual people. More modern Batman films have done a much better job of taking characters like the Scarecrow and making them into solid live action villains while allowing them to maintain some of their characteristics.

1st, i love watching all things related to conan, this'll be an addition.

live action movies, though not much like the manga are fine. BUT a whole series??? i am not saying i dislike it...but i hope they do good...>.<

I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry, well, Ran was definitely very good, Shinichi's actor was okay, I guess, kogoro's was brilliant as always, so... let's see what they can make.

Btw. does anyone know the ratings of the 3rd J-drama? Were they that high?

According to the japanese wikipedia(google translated), the rating is 8.5% if I wasn't mistaken. It is not that high IMO compared to the first two LA. Movie14 that aired after it got about 14% which makes I think the rating for this LA is very low.

The first one didn't have Conan or Haibara in it either, and it was the better of the first two (of which, the second had both).  The third I haven't watched yet, so I'm not going to comment on its quality.
