A kissing scene or even a bed scene doesn't necesarily make it adult oriented... at most teenage oriented XP IRL sex is a very important part of a person's life.

Anyway, unlike the 3 first LA, I'm liking this dorama quite a bit. I like other doramas best but the DC fnagirl in me enjoys a fair deal :)

PS: THe ratings aren't good for a dorama (usually the least I've seen a minimally sucessful dorama has got has been an average of 8). perhaps being have the time lenght of a normal dorama has afected the ratings.

You musn't compare the ratings with all the other dramas but only with the dramas that air during the week in the midnight slot. Based on last week's ratings, here's what we get :

25th of July : 23:58-24:29 – 02.5%   Piece Vote (04) NTV
28th of July : 23:58-24:38 – 05.6%   Meitantei Conan (04) NTV
29th of July : 24:20-24:50 – 03.4%   Ouran High School Host Club (02) TBS

You can also eventually add the dramas that air after in the late-night slot, but the comparaison becomes immediatly less accurate.

26th of July : 24:55-25:25 – 02.0%   Arakawa Under the Bridge (01/start) TBS
27th of July : 24:59-25:29 – 02.2%   Rokudenashi BLUES (04) NTV

Comparing it with  the rating of the other dramas that aired at the exact same time slot as this LA, you can see how well this drama had fared. Maybe the fact that this is DC helps the ratings.

Yotsuba Jinja Ura Kagyo Shitsuren Hoken~Kokuraseya~
Average rating - 3.8%

Jidankoshonin Gota Keshi
Average rating - 5.2%

FACE MAKER
First 3 episode average rating - 4.0%

Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo
Average rating - 3.4%

Pro Golfer Hana
Average rating - 4.2

The fact that it's in that timeslot also speaks of the quality expected of the dorama. The supossedly best doramas get best time slots. The reason why it was placed on that timeslot may be another reason but it's still a place for doramas who get a lower viewing share and most times of worse quality (although not always). And don't tell me that it's because it's mature because that's the point I was adressing before and because some of the doramas that I'm including were well more mature and got a share of around 10%.

Anyway, I'm liking this dorama but most of you will realise it's not the greatest thing on earth precisely. Also I was talking doramas, not anime. I know nothing, nor I'm interestes in anime viewing share because I don't watch any anime.

No, the family orientated dramas get the best time slots (prime time slots) because that's when families are able to watch them while the adult orientated dramas get the late-night slots. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't have anything a little bit more mature in a prime-time drama. It's exactly the same for anime : family orientated anime like DC get the best slots while more mature and otaku aimed anime air in the late-night slots.

Do you have any numbers to back up what you're saying ? Because as far as I'm aware, a late-night drama getting shares of 10% on a regular basis is pretty unheard of in the recent years.

I'm not going to start digging up data in the little free time I have so don't believe me (I really don't care, I don't know why I'm even answering) but series like Warui Yatsura (it's been the first to come to mind) where the central plot is sex, cheating and death had way better viewing shares (I think it was around 10%, perhaps a little less) and that's one example of a dorama certainly not oriented for young people (who are the ones that usually get the bigger share like the big beasts like Hana Kimi or Nodame Cantabile for example). But like I said, don't believe me and don't believe the fact that actor's roles and time slots are based on expectancies of good viewrship. It's certainly not going to make me lose any sleep XP

It's not that I don't believe you, but when numbers are involved, asking for data to back up a statement seems like a legitimate demand. Of course, since you 'don't care', you're free to not give numbers, but that makes your statement difficult to take into consideration.

Anyhow, I searched myself and Warui Tatsura apparently did have a viewer share of around 10% (9.4% to be precise : http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Warui_Yatsura_(2007). However, it aired a 9 pm (a prime-time slot) almost 3 hours earlier than the Detective Conan drama series, meaning that it's perfecty normal that its ratings were higher. It is indeed an example of a drama with mature content getting good ratings, but not an example of a drama airing in a late-night slot and getting ratings of around 10%.

It's certainly possible that the actors' roles and the expectancies of good viewership influence the choice of a time-slot, but so does the content of a drama and the target viewers.
