There are meanings in the colours in some of the Magic Kaito characters' names.

Kuroba Kaito= the surname means "black feather" and apparently it's meant to refer partly to how the police see him, as some kind of evil character who flies, but also to be a contrast to his true nature.

Hakuba Saguru= surname meaning "white horse", making him out as a knight, and the colour is the antithesis to Kaito.

Koizumi Akako= red because she's fiery, passionate, alluring, but also because of the Lucifer connection, red being the popular colour of Satan.

Nakamori Aoko= blue partly being an opposite colour to Akako, and also as sort of a joke apparently, blue being a colour that is normally associated with calm and Aoko being... not.

There's more, I just can't be bothered to think of them all right now :P

Adding on to things with Magic Kaito characters, something I've always thought is that the "ichi"in Toichi could represent the fact that he was the first Kaitou Kid.

Probable. His name is written 盗一, the first character meaning "theif" and the second meaning "one", so he's the "first theif". Aoyama used a similar pun with Shinichi's name; "Shin" meaning "Truth", "Ichi" meaning "One"... yeah. :P

Except that the "shin" kanji in Shinichi's name is the kanji æ–° which means new. :)

So Kudô is actually "the new one" ?

Huh, suppose so. Because he was Aoyama's new character, perhaps? It could be a pronunciation pun, though. Like how Kaito's name (快斗) is written differently to Kaitou (怪盗) as in a theif, but it's intentionally a pun in how it sounds the same.

Another cute punny name: Eri's cat Goro. Partially a reference to "gorogoro", meaning "lazy", but probably also a reference to Kogoro XD

Many characters from the series are available, including major ones! We also accept original characters from any faction in DC and MK. Despite the usage of real life PBs, we follow the anime/manga.

Actually the Shin in Shinichi's name means new not truth. If you were going on phonetic similarity shin could also mean faith or even god/deity.

The name Kuroba by the way means one other thing besides black feather: it's a play on words with Kuroba being the Japanese phonetic spelling for clover. That's why there's a clover on Kaitou KID's monocle charm.

Heiji: 平次
Kazuha: 和葉

平和 <<-- Peace (not that those two are a very peaceful pair... ^_^")

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this one before, but I find this one really interesting... XD

Also, Gosho mentioned in one of his SDBs that a lot of times, he puts little themes to names in certain cases:

Once in a while, he throws in one of his editors', co-workers', or assistants' names in. (The guy that got his head blown off in the first ep was one of them ^_^")

Another example is during the coffee shop murder (the first appearance of Kisaki Eri). All the characters in that case had names relating to royalty, if I remember correctly....
