The Detective Conan Anime will end when the show starts losing Japanese advertisers money. A sad but true fact. Oh and by the way when Detective Conan ends you will just wind up with a spin off show where Shinichi (Yes he will get his body back) is going after Kaitou Kid in every episode only for kid to just get away, think Lupin the 3rd. laughs.  :D

All I can think of is the episode where the author dies in the middle of writing his book.  PLEASE STAY ALIVE GOSHO!!!!!!!

I thought I saw people say earlier in the forums that Gosho already has the ending planned out incase he dies, his assistants will finish it out how he wanted it to be.

I wouldn't be surprised if DC ends around 1000. That would be a a cute way to finish things off (not speaking from any knowledge).

And yes, the ending thing is true, but I doubt that it would really satisfy most fans, unless he has already gone through it very extensively (maybe he has, given that he has had the basics of the ending set in his mind for 10+ years now).

1 000 chapters would be about 6 more years, that's 2017. Well what do you know, it all fits.  :P

I'm sure JohnTitor told ranger about it. ;)

Still, I heard that the longest running manga has about 1600 chapters. Gosho could at least try for that, ending at a nice number, like oh... 4869 ;D

I would say a nice way of ending the series would be decreasing the rate at which the manga is published or broadcasting more than one episode a week. That way, sooner or later, the anime and manga would be synchronised, then the anime ending would never be spoiled by the manga. I mean the worst case scenario would be for the series to have the same fate as Konjiki Yasha, which would render it incomplete owing to the author's premature death. >:D

Actually, all that would require is the elimination of several AOs a year. Right now, the manga and the anime are moving at almost exactly the same rate- there were 41 manga files in 2010 and 40 files contained in the anime cases that were shown. Removing only four AOs would let the manga gain 4-5 files a year, while removing 6 would let it gain 7-8.

Actually, I heard from my younger brother, who is quite knowledgeable in the area of manga and anime. He told me that if DC was trying to be on the "Guiness book of record", it'll have to beat that manga.

I only knew John Titor because I asked on JohnTitor's Intro thread on DCTP, which our community stalker detective knows a little too well.

I'm taking a class called mystery and detective fiction. It's quite interesting in showing how mystery fiction captures its readers (or its viewers) by relaying people's fears (about crime, death, private property, the dark side of humans) and showing a way to overcome them (with the knowledgeable, "almighty" detective/police force) in the form of a mystery--from ignorance to knowledge. At the same time, these chapters/episodes can't repeat or they lose their appeal. Recently, I've seen some of the old episodes come up on the Conan 48:69's list. I'm guessing the producers want to keep people entertained on these ideals in new forms, but somehow similar to capture them in.
