And did they change again at the beginning of the 500s ? Because I think that's when the round rather nice looking animation started becoming angular and ugly.

That it did. After 504, Satou Masato stepped down in favor of Ouchi Kojin.

If I remember correctly, Kojin was a storyboarder prior to taking over.

I see. Well I guess we can only hope the next one (if there actually is another one before the show ends) will be better.

Another issue with that guy, beyond the angles, is the terrible use of colours.

But obviously if it isn't BRIGHTER THAN THE GODDAMN SUN, it isn't good.

Regardless though this is a long running shonen anime. The art has always sucked.

Personally thinking, Ochi is the best of all in directing horror type of moods.
And, the OP and ED except for the ones that just came out had been best ever.
I think that Ochi's directions are lot better than Satou and Yamamotou.
He actually directed some of the really famous originals like Cursed Masks Grin Coldly.
I really liked them.

And, the art is not done by him.
DC started having problems with art ever since Aono left, which he was the main art director.
It's only that few episodes were great in Red/Black Clash, which was drawn by Sasahi Geiko, one of the best art directors for BO.
The drawing itself is a lot better than the past before the director changed.
It's just that the art director changes every week, and the new ones do not really draw well.
Still, I see the new art directors improving. I belive that the art will be better.
(BTW, It's MV season. It's kind of hard to expect something good when they are working on MVs)

The coloring team is the same team as the ones that work for the MV.
I really don't think that there's any problems with that... maybe not.

....
That was my little defence for Director Ochi, just that I really like his directions.

I kinda have to agree with you there. I do miss the older art, but the problem is that it had to remain current, which is, I think, why they changed the style to what it is now. I do like the newer animation and, while it definetly has it's hiccups now and again, it does seem to slowly be getting better.

With the colours, yes they go overboard with it a bit too much, but I like that it seems brighter and I think they'll be able to use that to there advantage once the anime gets into it's last couple, darker arcs and if they use darker tones it'll only add to the effect.

Now for the opening: I don't like it, but I don't think it's horrible. Yes, the dancing is extremely stupid, but it does make it unique... Now if only it could be unique and actually good... They undoubtably should've put more characters into in, especially since it should be celebrating Conan's 15th anniversary, but I like that they put the Valentines scene as that is in some ways celebrating the anniversay... but they made that scene too long... -.-

Personnally, I think they should've gone for something more like Magic.

The dance is weird, but I think it's more beatable than Koi Wa Thrill. :V

that's Koi Wa, so you're obviously wrong :V

and wait, I said "more beatable"? I meant to say better. I blame my mind thinking "better" and "more standable" and mixing them together.  :-X

It's not horrible! :o It's entertaining to watch Conan dance with a straight, serious face! I bet you would enjoy it more if Kaito was dancing!  ;D
Sherlock Holmes - When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?

Conan Edogawa - A Detective who uses his deductive powers  to corner a suspect and then does nothing to stop that suspect from committing suicide...is NO better than a murderer himself.
