I don't know if it's as much a matter of chemistry as for how their feelings are, and while Ai very definately has feelings for Conan, I just don't see anything on his side; it'll always be unrequited.

i don't think there's nothing on his side....he cares a lot about her(it's pretty clear)...ok, it's not love...but it's not"nothing"
as i said before,it's hard to believe that after all the things they have been through(and how much time they spend together),he doesn't feel anything...,he may like her as a close friend,or as a sister,i don't know...
that's why i like this couple,their interactions are interesting even if they aren't lovers...

I didn't mean that, I meant that there are no romantic feelings on his side. No doubt he cares about her, but just as a friend and ally; I don't see anything more.

TBH, I've always understood that chemistry is more of a sexual compatibility; I think to have chemistry you need to have mutual feelings. That's why I don't see chemistry; I see romantic feelings from Ai, but without any from Conan, I don't see chemistry.

What connects them so strong is a common enemy, the secret of their true identities and some kind of mutual dependency (Conan needs Ai for the antidote; Ai because he gives her a reason not to run away).

Or do you think she is counting the number of times a girl looks at Conan, while that girl is sitting behind her in a car where she is unable to see it? While she drives in her neck-breaking driving style? Sure... 

And even if she looked really 10 times on Conan - Yukiko was definetly biased in that case, she WANTED to count how often she looked at him to tease Conan. Not because Haibara is in love... but because Yukiko wanted to believe (or make Conan believe) she is.

Conan for example wants Ai also to live a happy life without to worry about the BO and Ai wants to give him his old life back.
If it would be only about the antidote or the reason, they wouldn´t care that much was the other one is thinking/feeling right away. Also they wouldn´t tell each other so much about themselves.^^

But there´s no way Conan is in love with Ai. He´s a 17 years old boy at mind, a 8 year old child who has the mind of a sassy, intelligent and rather mysterious criminal sicentist isn´t the girl he could fall in love with. A 18 year old woman who´s sassy, intelligent and have a mysterious criminal past is another (untold) story.^g^

Uhh... yeah. Of course Conan wants Ai (and everyone else) to live a happy life without danger. That is nothing "special" in their relatinship. 
And yes, Ai wants to give Conan his old live back. Which is one of the reasons why she can't just run away.

But I still think they are just telling each other so much from each other because they can't do so with anyone else. Ai is like Heiji - someone for Conan/Shinichi to talk with normaly. Ai talking about herself with Conan... well, I can't remember when she did so. Except her breakdown where she cried about her sister after that case with disc at that professors home.

Well... everyone has their own fandom. Mine isn't any more realistic than that one.
