Kaito Kid is just that awesome. He is definitely more than just a "petty little thief"

What's so awesome about him? He is a nobody, and behaves himself as if he were the owner of the world.

I probably should, but I doubt I would change my opinion about him. I just despise criminals that have no good motive for committing crimes.

As I said: Read the manga and you will know why he does what he does :)

I probably will one day but, whatever his motive is, you cannot deny he enjoys being a thief and is extremely arrogant. To me, those are despicable qualities. Of course, I don't force my opinion on anybody.

though your point is reasonable, there may be a small difference between being a detective and being a thief.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

To me, being a thief is despicable. Being a detective - no. And as I said, it's not only his personality that is annoying, but also the fact that he never loses. Conan at least has his difficulties sometimes. If Kaito Kid used his skills for doing good, I would be happy for him. But, when a character does evil things and almost never fails, it is very annoying. But, as I said, that's only my opinion.

Looking at his record, I'm finding it difficult to really call Kid a thief at all.  I mean, he's never really stolen anything over the course of the show, he's just unlawfully borrowed things for short periods of time.  That really makes him more of a mischievous prankster than a true thief.  That being said, he's still breaking the law so I can see why some might be annoyed at that.

@Dawlin: If you feel that passionately against Kaito Kid, I'm curious what your thoughts are on Lupin III??  ::)

I don’t dislike Lupin as much as I do Kid because he finds himself more often in comical situations and doesn’t seem so arrogant. Fujiko from his gang annoys me more than him. But I haven’t really seen so many cartoons about Lupin. The fact that I don’t dislike him so much may also be due to the fact that I first saw him in Hayao Miyazaki’s movie where he didn’t seem so bad.

I think we all went a bit off Topic here :)
Maybe we should discuss that in a different thread.
Let's get back to topic okay :)

I watched the movie a second time and started to write a translation. Yeah I was kinda bored and I didn't had anything better to do. But it's way better than speding my time with drinking or going out with senseless people :D I never thought I was that hard but I just realised that you need to be very patient when translating. Now I will praise every release of DCTP for the rest of my life :)

Yeah the movie gets better every time I see it. It doesn't happen to me that often when I see movies but this is definetly one of them. I love it. I like it from the beginning. I think I will marry it when I watched it one or two more time :D :D

This movie is definitely my new favorite. <3
It kept my interest all the way through, which sometimes the DC movies kind of don't. I usually think they get dull around the middle, before getting ready for the climax, but this one...didn't. <333
It was funny, exciting and way better than I expected it to be. Plus, no one died, which was really refreshing actually.
I love it~ <3

I rewatched the movie and it was still awesome.
Tho i knew what would happen and when Megure and the other were asking themselves what are the terrorists planning to do /etc, then i knew the answers but those are the things that you know when ur rewatching something. You know what will happen.
Its rewatchable, tho cursed the terrorist again who shot the skateboard into pieces. ;_;

Which makes me wonder, how does Conan know how to skateboard so good.
I mean, hes good in football and mysteries but i dont think that Shinichi himself had much to do with skateboarding. >x<

Conan and Kaito are both pretty arrogant.
But to understand why Kaito steals those jewels, u just need to read his manga a bit and then youll understand it.
And the reason he returns them is that
Spoiler:
those werent the jewels he is looking for.

Besides, didnt Kaito mumble something that 'its not that jewel' or 'its not real' before the Kaito x Ran scene, when he was looking at that ring ?
