why is America divided in north and south?

Because it's big ? lol

not just that, but they're connected by such a small sliver of land that they pretty much look like separate continents for the most part anyway.

but it`s still one continent and south america has only one vote so wouldn`t be better to leave it as America instead of north and south?

If North and South America are going to be counted as one continent, Europe and Asia should be changed into Eurasia, IMO

Well, it's arguable that they are not, it's not a definite right or wrong, though the general consensus likes the idea of 7 continents more, doesn't mean the others are wrong though

I guess it's not a "big deal" per say, it's like "PT expressed an idea, someone counters it, and she just want to say she has a point and that point should be accepted also" kind of scenario I like to use close to home reference

sure, they just have one vote, but it's still a seperate continent. Besides, there's more than one person who lives in South America here, but I guess they just haven't voted.

I wouldn't call it "my point of view" so much as "everything I've been taught since I was a kid"... I've honestly never given it any thought.

well, then maybe people living in north america were taught that way while others were taught that America is one continent divided in north, central and south america, in the same way other continents are divided
