Americans, help me understand...

If you have some randomness to share that you can't post elsewhere, this is the place to do it.

Here all universities are free, except for study materials of course. Also we have a really good place to borrow money that has good rates and if we are unemployed after the education is finished we can wait with paying back. Also we receive a small sum of money every month just because we are studying. Although some schools have fees, but nothing to drastic. Also those schools aren't counted as high as universities/colleges.

everything is based on a district, not even the entire state. so for someone like me who moves a lot i get screwed since every school has a different system. they are unable to get anything done right. I am supposed to be taking advanced classes and high school math where i would ear college credits! but do to moving the understaffed school is unable to get all my testing information and over me to the correct classes, i even brought in my testing scores and report card, showing i got near the highest scores in the district and what do they do? they put me in LD classes WTH is wrong with that! now when i was trying out for football i was unable to play because the office lost my medical papers, who do you do that? they found them in ANOTHER STUDENTS FOLDER!!! if you ask me something is seriously wrong with this education system if they can put A MEDICAL DOCUMENT! of all things in another students folder, what if i happened to be on some kind of medication.

I think something must be changed with our education system. i even considered becoming a politician.

Yeah, that must mean something is SERIOUSLY wrong with our education system... who'd want to grow up to become a politician?

Oh, if we talk about what's wrong in the US, I'll be here the whole day.

First things that come to mind: Health care and Education

So......is it like this in EVERY college application in the US, or this mass of nonsensical questions is only in Berklee?

1. What is your practice routine?
2. What are the qualities of a successful musician?
3. What are your musical strengths?
4. What is your favorite part of being a musician?
5. Why go to Berklee?
6. What career opportunities would you like to take advantage of in the music industry?
7. What benefits do music theory and instrumental training have in your chosen field of interest?
8. What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
9. What has been your most significant achievement so far? What motivates you?
10. One of the biggest challenges for entering students is time management. How do you currently balance school, music, and other activities?
11. What has been the biggest challenge in your musical learning and growth? How have you overcome it?
12. What would you like a press release to say about you as a person? About you as a musician? ( :|)
13. In what ways do you feel your talents will enhance the quality of life and music in the Berklee community?
14. How have your life experiences influenced your musical development?

And the essay question is: If you have had access to formal music training, tell us what you found to be most valuable in that training. Describe how that training might contribute to your success as a student at Berklee.

Dunno what's harder. Getting accepted to Berklee or answering all these questions. Seriously, I can answer most of these questions with one or two words, but I don't think short answers will satisfy them.

Berklee is a music college, so these questions would be rather expected.  For Berklee or any other music college.

I wasn't asking about the questions themselves, but more about these type of questions that basically don't make any sense, or are simply stupid.

Yup.  They use these questions to analyze how well a fit you would be for their school.

Or at least that's the official answer, anyway  ::)
