The mangakas new stance on scans

Postby Shana1412 » July 25th, 2010, 9:00 am

I'm sure some of you have heard that both mangafox, onemanga, 1000manga and such will be closing as of yesterday. I was really upset to find that I will no longer be able to read manga online. This all comes down to the new views mangakas have had on scanalations. They don't aprove anymore, most likely because it means that less people will buy the mangas from the publishers in their countey and the they will lose money. Though notices have been posted on most sites, i'm not sure where the DCTP will stand with all of this. Will they continue to scan the translated manga or will they have to stop? (crossing fingers that they'll continue)

One of the problems with all of those sites was they group a huge amount of manga in one place so any casual reader can read it without buying.  Casual readers are more likely to buy instead of look for every scanlation site imaginable, while the hardcore fans will find scanlations either way.  Plus, the owners of those sites made money from ads at every page click.  So, last I heard, the industry was only focusing on those sites.  Hopefully, DCTP with be fine.

well, thats a good to hear even if it isn't certain, thanks. I hope your right. It would be a shame not to be able to read detective conan to the end after sticking with it for so long.

agree on them by 50%... turning down scanlation sites because they would lose money, the original works are not bought. The mangakas are losing their works financially.... i feel pity for them on this situation...

i don't agree on them by 50% also... because... i know they're losing money... but they're are thinking more and more of themselves... what about us? their readers? who support their manga?? i thought they created manga for readers to read  them.... don't they understand that not all can't buy their mangas?? don't they understand that not all can understand their work because it's in japanese language???

that's all.... I'm really sad on turning down scanlation sites.....T_T

From what I know, those sites made money, and readers on those sites don't buy mangas :P I do, a lot more than I need to be T_T but really, even if I bought the raw, I would go online and read the scanslation also :P

This topic is made about 6 times every time something even close to this happens, we don't need doomsayers every few months.
