New 2010 Interview With Gosho Aoyama

Postby The Mask » July 13th, 2010, 2:31 am

The guys over at Masters of Manga had recently posted an e-mail interview with Gosho Aoyama in its blog. The topics discussed include Detective Conan and Yaiba. Not much new stuff from the interview, but it's worth a read, since you don't always get interviews with Mr. Aoyama.

double dangit. I bought one of those "Detective Conan Special" manga's while I was in Japan, and it wasn't even written by Gosho. I feel ripped off. *Sigh*

nice find/post, it was worth reading, but yeah I agree with Misztina, a lot of familiar questions being asked again, but it's bound to happen - is it just me or could you kind of tell that Gosho responded sort of..jadedly probably due to being asked these questions constantly?

Just from like the voice, like when the interviewee asked who were his influences?  I felt Gosho dully responded, maybe it's just me  :/

And yes, JConan, they should of asked that question ;) or at least he should of gave us a time range..3-5 years..1-2? or maybe an answer like "not anytime soon" would have been nice.

According to the paragraph at the top, the interview was done via e-mail, which may explain that.

It's always great to read an interview with Aoyama. His response to the question about the writers of the Special Manga makes me want to check it out even more, now. Two of the stories in there were good enough to have an anime adaptation, I guess, and there are a few Heiji, Kaitou Kid, and B.O. stories in there as well.

I like the interviews in all but personally I don't think they ever ask any good questions, heck I think they all repeat every question and just rephrase them. They never ask about the story itself they just ask about meaningless, already said information. Unless Gosho forbids questions like that?

That's how I kinda feel about the interview.  The questions were much too generic.  I wish they could've asked Gosho for a time frame like someone else mentioned.  I'm curious how much longer he can draw out this series.  I wish someone could've asked about when he's going to go back to the BO storyline.  Will we learn something regarding Akai or Okiya or Ai or even Akemi.  Stuff like that.  I just wish more story-based questions would've been asked.  We all should know his influences and stuff by now.

I think the intention of the interviewers was to interview Mr. Aoyama as a manga artist, since the site Masters of Manga is, presumably, aimed at profiling manga artists. As such, there was not much story-related questions here and the interviewers even included Yaiba in the interview.

Questions that I would ask:

1) Was the BO boss already shown in the series?
2) Will anyone really close to Conan die?
3) Are there any hints about the BO boss?

I believe he said before that Ano Kata has already appeared at least once, though I'm not sure when he said it.
