Southeast Asia (the parts south of China), parts of Hong Kong (I say parts since HK is apparently in Region 3 and 6), Taiwan, and South Korea.

Gamer1104 wrote:Money grubbing company? Really? You do realize that they're a business? And in this business, FUNi produces DVDs? And in order to license more shows and in order to release them here, they'd have to sell the DVDs they produce and make money on them? And you do also realize that they're releasing anime and that anime rarely sells as much as a "money grubbing" company would like, correct? Geez, this is the worst argument I have ever heard for fansubs...
GinRei wrote:Ctu wrote:I thought reg 1 covered japan as well? Or am I just wrong?
That's just for Blueray. For DVD, region 1 is USA and Canada. Japan is in region 2, which also includes most of western europe, the middle east, and a few other places. The aforementioned Australia is in region 4, along with New Zealand, Mexico, and South America.BTW how is the Jap audio in the CC release? Is it just as good as the Japanese release or dose it get the short end of the stick for the bad dub?
Why would the Japanese audio be affected by someone's opinion of the dub quality? The only time it gets the "short end of the stick" is on movies 3+, where it's merely not used to its utmost capabilities (ie: it's not 5.1 surround sound, but neither are the fansubs).

I'm sure if they had a team of dedicated fans onboard, the product would be of much higher quality. Plus, fansubbers get jobs, and voila! so long recession!@!@!

Import DVDs. That way you are supporting the actual animators and writers of the show rather than the people who bought a license to mess the show up. IMO this is what a "true fan" would do, and is an option for fans all over the world, rather than just people in the R1 area.
So, even though they are expensive, you should buy the Japanese DVDs to support the true creators, then watch the fansubs so you can understand the show.![]()

It seems like a lot of you aren't aware that the "Case Closed" disks ALL come with ORIGINAL JAPANESE AUDIO and english subtitles. That's right! Buying the Case Closed disks doesn't mean you have to watch the dub! You can own and watch the original "Detective Conan" Audio on your own TV with out spending thousands of dollars importing the disks or illegally burning discs from your internet. You get 26 episodes per disc set, for only 20-30 dollars! That's much cheaper than importing the 4 episode 40 dallar discs from Japan! SO PLEASE! Buy the Case Closed discs! The more people that buy it, the more chance there is that they will start bringing the rest of the episodes over! and if you are a true Conan fan, you want to support and own the whole series!
It perplexes my brain how many people out there are unaware that discs come with japanese audio and subtitles. >.>

it's because what you said is off-topic and has no connection to whatever is being discussed here. :P
it is on-topic because someone mentioned it here. your post is now off-topic and basically useless. now we have two useless posts. :-*

wow....now this is pretty insulting towards....everyone maybe. You really do need to be stupid to not know that, especially since it was mentioned only oh so many times in this thread. You however, with all due respect to your red and big letters (seriously, tantei's use of caps is somehow fine, but there was no point in that) need to read what has been said so far instead of pressuming that no one knows what you just said.
What some have said, is that they think the subs made by funanimation aren't good and don't deserve to be bought. Why do some people want funanimation to continue the hideious parade I must ask.
Also, some members who talked here about getting the episodes from Japan ARE NOT FROM REGION 1. Meaning you've just been reading the last posts of this thread because we also talked about THAT. So next time you make such a post which hurts the mind and logic of almost everyone, read what was said until now in this thread.
edit: it's funny that everyone here has a different interpetation to what a "true conan fan" is. How about just stopping use this term then? If you think people should buy funanimation's stuff (I am quoting you on what you said since you weren't even slightly specific) then I ask you to buy the DVDs of Conan made in germany, philipins and oh where not. After all, a true Conan fan should support the whole series. Or you just referred to funanimation's stuff? So funanimation is what makes the series "whole"? I lived perfectly fine without it.
So by your interpetation, I'm not a true fan, since I won't buy funanimation's releases, but then again I can't even buy it to begin with.
