Actually I disagree. I think Ran/Sonoko has the more real friendship. They've been friends for longer and Ran likes Sonoko for her, not her money. Which show's Ran's angelic side. She isn't the greedy type.

But I find Ran to be an unrealistic person.

Most of the DC characters are, but some have lots of characteristics of real people, they just aren't good like the characters.

I mean her personality.
I don't think there is anyone out there, so honest, kind, trusting of others and ability to believe people are good.
And willing to take shots for a little girl she doesn't know much about.

Well, if you knew me, then you'd know a person like Ran. :X I think thats why I enjoy the anime so much.

Indeed. Ran have seen millions of dead bodies but she is still afraid of them.

I felt bad for Ran in the first episode. Since Shinichi was kinda a jerk, but he ends up being a good guy. Ran was quite obvious in showing she wanted the date to be something more. But they both failed even at the end when he goes to run off to become Conan she wanted something else and for him to listen to her.

I'm a lot like Ran. A lot of the things she has done, I'd say I'd done too, including saving people. Though dead bodies don't fly at me. I like Ran/Sonoko, but you can tell Ran gets annoyed with Sonoko when she is all over the guys and almost a few times voices her annoyances to her. Kazuha/Ran are at an understanding, its hard to see, but the looks they give each others, its a trust I think she has with her about the boys (Conan/Heiji even Shinichi the few times he shows up and they are around)

Yeah, it was a little sad seeing Ran's face right before Shinichi became Conan. And definitely. You could instantly tell that Ran felt feelings for Shinichi. I was happy that Ran told Conan how she loved Shinichi.

But I want them to actually say how much they love each other face to face.

I don't think I'm like anyone in DC. And I agree that Ran and Kazuha has a friendship. But I still think Ran and Sonoko has the more BFF type of thing.

Interesting. I'm wondering.

Do you think there is anyone in the world that doesn't do everything they do without wanting a reward?
Whether that reward is self-achievement, respect, honor or money/a prize.

There aren't very many in the people who do everything for nothing, I know I've gotten walked on for being the way I am, but I wouldn't change it for the world, and the people's who's lives I've changed are more worth it than the things that were said and the people that treated me like crap. Thats just an example.

I was happy Ran told Conan too, cause at least he knows now, its ashamed she didn't realize in the movie she told him either, but like its said that in the movies they aren't written by Gosho so it would screw up the plot, but I was kinda happy and excited she told Shinichi.

I think Sonoko is actually the changed one because Ran is her friend and thats why she isn't like most of the other rich kids. :)

slightly off topic. But was there an Episode where Sonoko refused to do something for Ran "because she did not want Ran's friendship to be bought. She wanted it to be real"?

I thought it was the other way around.
Ran needed something, but didn't want to ask Sonoko because Ran didn't want Sonoko to think that their relationship/friendship is about Sonoko's money and wealth.

I try not to be selfish and that's why I help others when I can.
But I see myself helping others because I feel bad and guilty.
So I only do it to make myself feel better? But isn't that selfish?

Maybe if you feel its the only reason you want to help others than it is a bit selfish. I've always done it because I feel its the best thing to do in the situations I've seen. I really would rather see someone smile and be happy than miserable.

How come no one barely mention Heiji and Conan's friendship? I personally believe that it is a strong friendship between guys. They are both great detectives and they help each other out. Remember in episode 118 the Nanikawa Serial Murder Case, Heiji gave Conan/Shinichi his charm because he had a dream that Shinichi would die. If he's not friends with him, why would he care? And in the end, it's actually Heiji that got hurt, but he never blame Kudo for it. And I love to see how they tease each other about the girls they love. Isn't what friends do when the friendship is between guys?

As for Sonoko and Ran and Ran and Kuzaha, I can't decide if which friendship is stronger. For me, these two friendships are built on different levels. Just as many of you mentioned before, Sonoko and Ran are friends ever since they grow up together. They go to the same school and have mutual friends. Since they know each other since when they were young, of course their friendship will be strong. And it's real and true that they both care about the other a lot.

As for Kazuha and Ran, even though they haven't known each other for a long time, they became friends. I think that the reason why they become friends is because they both realize that they are in similar situation. Both are in love with guys whom they don't know if they love them back, and both guys are detectives and have a lot of fans. As they become friends, we can totally see that they care for each other a lot. The reason why we might not think it's not as strong as Sonoko and Ran's is probably because we don't get to see many interactions between Kazuha and Ran. But that's still friendship, and taking into the amount of time they see each other, I would say that it's strong and genuine.  ;D

haha you're right!! XD But everyone seems more focused on Sonoko X Ran and Ran X Kazuha friendships. Well, I guess you can say that Ran is on topic in this thread. :D Wait but the same goes for Conan too!
