Americans are pretty much the same.

If it weren't for actual actors' opinions/choices and budget (that animes  necessarily do not have to face)

we'd still probably be seeing Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfield...etc.

In Germany it's similar as well.
"Tatort" (crime scene), "Wetten, dass" ((Let's) bet that...) and "Wer wird Millionär?" (Who becomes a millionaire?) are also quite old.
The last great change in official TV was 20 years ago, when private TV was allowed, and in private TV, changes happen more often (for example "Upps!" (oops)).
On the other hand, the average viewer of the "Tagesschau", the most famous German news, is now 60 years of age, showing clearly the outmoded attitude of official German TV...

Notice all of those are sitcoms. They're designed to run and run and run, champ.

It's apples to oranges(like Jd said). American Sitcoms are built around "nothing" aka daily life, in order to keep them running(each one you listed is a perfect example). There really isn't any solid point or objective to sitcoms which allows you to jump in at any time and not be lost(pairings/marriages/etc excluded). I don't know all these shows on this list, but outside Shinchan, I don't think they were built as sitcoms, they seem to have a point and an ultimate objective.

Another note, outside Sitcoms, not many American shows run as long as these animes AND top the most watched list at the same time. Reason for this could vary, but I'm sure short attention span, flavor of the month, and fickleness is in there somewhere. ;D

Naruto Shippuuden aka Sasuke Shippuuden's story is going downhill. The same could be said for Bleach... I knew One Piece would be the only survivor in the Big 3...

Ooopsss... Sorry! I thought this was another Big 3 flaming and bashing thread....

I got bored with One Piece after... Season Two? IDK, the last one that aired in the Philippines.
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

It's hilarious that I thought this would be an intelligent discussion about ratings.  :(

That's what I originally thought but when I saw the last line in the OP of the TS, it was all about the Narutards... I got carried away and discussed the Big3 here instead... Hehehe...

BTT: Just have a question about ratings. I just don't quite get it why advertisers pay attention to ratings. It's true that good ratings may be indicative that the show is doing good but do the audience watch the commercials when most of them sucks? (In my opinion it's for exposure to public, but I don't really know) Only few commercials are effective (for me)... Word of mouth is even a better and cheaper form of advertisement...

Don't argue with the QUADINFINITYION-dollar/yen/etc. industries.  That bring us stuff we sometimes want to see.  Without canceling it after half a season.  On occasion.

...Yeah, it's definitely exposure.  The more your brand is "out there" in a positive way, the better light folks will see your products/services in.

Example: Buying cola at the grocer - Coca-Cola vs. store brand.

The higher the ratings, the more exposure for the advertiser.  The more exposure, the more the folks who air the show can charge for the slot.  All this leads to more money for those at the tops of the food chains and a bit of trickle-down for the masses in terms of quality (sometimes) entertainment.
Your opinion is always requested in Abs.' Random Polls of Whenever

I've heard sometimes that the shows themselves (or at least the company that makes them) get a certain percentage of all ad revenue for the time slot their show is on. But I've never confirmed if that's actually true.
