Heiji and Kazuha's Names

Postby kaitoushinichi » October 21st, 2009, 3:06 am

I just realized that, if you take the character for "Hei"(平) in "Heiji (平次)," and the "Kazu(和)" from "Kazuha(和葉)," You get the word "Heiwa(平和)" which means Peace in Japanese! (Except they're not exactly that peaceful...)

(I figured this out when my friend and I were talking about all the detective names DC characters' names came from...)

I just had to tell you that...

I think Aoyama-sensei more or less thought out all of the characters names.

Shinichi Kudo for example would be "One Truth In This Painful World" 8)

...but the kanji in truth [真実/shinjitsu] and the one in Shinichi[新一] is different.
I've seen æ–° being pronounced as 'atarashii', meaning 'new'.
Please correct me if I'm wrong! xD

How does Hattori Heiji translate as? :D
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

Well, Heiji's name, to say it bluntly, is "Flat-Next"...
Kazuha is hard to explain...

And yes, it's true that the Shin part of "Shinichi" means "New" instead of the "Shinjitsu" Shin...

Then, Kogoro comes from Akechi Kogoro (One of Edogawa Rampo's characters),
Ran comes from Maurice LeBlanc (Japanese pronounciation, "Mourise Reburan")

It's too troublesome to list them all, so look it up on wikipedia yourself!

Both mean peace in Japanese.  But 平和 is what is commonly used.
