The main reason why Conan will take forever to end

Because the idea of the final confrontation with the BO only having 7 important people vs. whoever the good guys who will fight them will be is crazy. Seriously, the Black Organization is a HUGE organization that seems to almost definitely be one of the most powerful groups of ANYTHING in the entire world. The ones with code names are the important ones and will probably all be defeated somehow during the final arc.

We know after 540+ episodes that there are Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Sherry, Rye, Chianti, Korn, Kir, Calvados, Pisco, Tequila and Bourbon. That's 12 people. Getting rid of the dead/good guys, that leaves us with 6.

They really need to find a better and quicker way to introduce these guys after the Bourbon arc ends because 6 guys and their boss as the bad guys at the end seems silly, no matter how many nameless minions they have. Of course, I am ignoring the fact that the FBI is basically four people (one who is apparently dead) and their minions but ok!

I don't really see the BO as having a whole lot more members before the ending. If we get too many more I suspect that maybe they'd kill one off.

What'll probably happen is that the final confrontation will happen, conan will go off and everyone will be like "dude let us help seriously" and he'll just be like "noooo I can't put you all in danger I must leave alone" and they'll be like "hmm, well okay we'll allow this because you're the main character", solving the problem of all the other good guys interfering. Until the BO has him on the ropes at the climax, and everyone magically shows up to save him because they can't let him do this alone because HE IS THEIR FRIEND.

I hope when the series does end, they will release like an "abridged version", with all the important-plot related episodes, or like awesome cases, cutting out all the unnecessary crap.

You mean like the current Dragon Ball Kai?
The problem with that, is that if you look at the list with the related stories, and assume that all the cases with even the slightest story development, kaito kid, and couples (sonoko/makoto, heiji/kazuha, tagaki,sato) then it's still an anime that will go towards 200 episodes.

I find it funny that some popular animes start to have aniversery specials.

Either that or something happens to the main character and he gets out of control from rage because one of his friends was just killed and attacks everyone...and then someone starts crying and brings him back to his senses...and then he gets all emo and stuff and blames himself for stuff...and then he gets over it and defeats the bad guys.

Both ways just make you want to vomit from the cheesiness...

Hopefully Aoyama will not disappoint and will surprise us with an awesome ending...hopefully one that's not too cheesy and not too short...

Seeing as how I'm always surprised with what Aoyama pulls out magically from his hat, I think we're all going to be in for a shocking, yet satisfying ending. I mean hell, each case in its own usually has a twist or two, not even mentioning the Black Organization episodes, which I freak out every time I see since all sorts of questions get answered, but then hundreds more made. So I don't think we're going to be disappointed in the least.

Well for all we know, he might have already finished it, and is just putting filler kind of stuff until the series begins to die out.

i've always had this crazy idea that gosho has no idea about the ending...and he's just writing fillers until the day he dies 

there was some interview back in likt 2007 or something where he said that he did have an idea of how the series would end, but he said we probably wouldn't see it for a while. Although he said that in 07, so who knows what kind of timeframe he's talking about.

Yes, that interview was 2006 in Germany (Erlanger Comicmesse) in summer.
He was ask if he already draw the end in case something's happening to him. He said, that he did not, but has it ins his head. At least the final part.
Don't take it too serious with his time data. He also said the part with Akai would come "soon". It came 3/4 year later. -.-
