Yay! I'm getting all wound up for the next Hobbit movie. Now I've got that song stuck in my head again...

I'm going to be watching the Sindarin that the Woodelves speak closely, because the dialects of Sindarin are something I've actually studied in detail.

Hi Shiromi! \o/
Welcome to this crazy fun-loving place, which, without making any assumptions, I am almost certain you'll grow fond of in no time. :)

That's funny, my place is the exact opposite of yours then. ^^'

...without making any accusations of you and your spouse being plant serial killers, has you ever considered the possibility that maybe, just maybe, it is the residents which are the root of this mysterious cause? Image
Of course, there are also the option of a vengeful neighbour or mean pranskter in your friend circle which are behind the cruel acts of terror in your house. :P

Mostly it's because the apartment gets sun all the wrong ways. I tried to grow some spices in the kitchen, but the direct sunlight turns the kitchen into a little solar-oven and they all died within hours. Then I tried to grow some vines on the railing outside, but that side of the building gets the most direct and dry heat because the building is pale-grey and the light gets reflected back onto the walkway where the railing is. I couldn't give water to them fast enough to keep up with the heat, and they shriveled up and died.

The apartment has one side facing east, the other facing west. It has no air-conditioning. (Montana houses rarely have air-conditioning, just heaters.) Also, this summer was one of the hottest on record. Guess which direction the windows face? *sigh*

*waves* Oh wait, doesn't wave. I got out of surgery about 14 hours ago, and I am not allowed to lift my arms over my head at the moment. I can have my cute spouse wave though, how about that?

Only three of those are useful living languages, the rest are Elvish. Sindarin and Quenya are different Elven languages that Tolkien created, and Thalassian is spoken by High Elves and Blood Elves in World of Warcraft. I'm actually building Thalassian myself, and having a blast doing it. I think I mentioned being a ConLanger - but knowing a lot of languages comes in handy when you're trying to build a language. The degree in Linguistics I'm earning helps too. ;)

Aww that sounds terrible. Poor plants! :(
Spoiler: Kind of irrelevant and slightly off topic
I cannot stand it being too hot myself. :x
In fact, I would rather prefer it a bit too chilly than too hot since it is much easier to get warm (throw on an extra layer or cuddle under a blanket) than it is to cool down. :V
I suppose you guys has went through most house plant species?

If all else fail you can always resolve to cacti and succulent plants; they love dry heat and warm temperatures...unless the apartment has already killed off those types as well. :x ^^'

Also. Glad the surgey went well; hope it won't take long to recover (and you enjoy the buzz while on the drugs* :p)! \o/

* I'll probably regret that terrible attempt at a joke later. Sorry in advance for any who reads it. :V

A lot of people are like that. I prefer it were it's cold enough to wear a sweater, but warm enough to run around outside. Basically Montana spring and fall.

Currently we're trying growing things in Winter instead of summer, and it's turning out all right. I've got an amaryllis in the dining room right now (a get better from surgery present from my mom).

I fell off my tricycle as a little kid into a cactus. It wasn't fun. I've never liked Cacti much after that. Except Christmas Cactus, those are okay, but they use about as much water as a normal plant.

I'm glad too. My spouse was worried and scared for me, and my mom did some nervous knitting. The worst part for me was my fear of needles, so getting the IV put in. After that, it's been fairly smooth sailing... except for that time around midnight that my oxygen levels dropped too low and I almost passed out and scared the hell out of everyone. That, however, was temporary and fixed by me remembering to breathe.
