Detective Conan Movie 11: Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure

Post by Lu_Ck »

I know people might know this already but I thought Hari-no-Ito was subbing Movie 11. And who subbed this movie?

Even though it is subbed, fans/critics say it wasn't really a good movie.

Was it really not that good? I have not seen 11 yet but I thought for the most part 1-10 were pretty good...

In my opinion:  The only ones that might be weaker are 1 and 8.  1 just doesn't fit continuity-wise, and 8, even ignoring that Kaitou Kid knows Conan is Shinichi, was only watchable because he was in it.  I'd still probably rate 8 over this one though.  1 barely loses out, but still 11 is definately in the lower tier of movies.

Quite bad. The quality of the Conan movies hasn't been that great over the last few years, as the movies have gotten longer they've been filled with more junk. My rankings, from best to worst would be the following

10: Easy mystery, nonsenical characters, action is poorly paced/thought out.
11: Similar problems, though the characters weren't quite as bad.
7: This movie bored me. Immensely. I just never got pulled in, though it was a very pretty movie to look at, perhaps the fact that much of the mystery required greater knowledge of Japanese culture than I have was a problem.
8: Conan goes Airplane. I was amused at times, but it just generally too lightweight to make much of an impact.
9: I liked the characters and their were some moments of real tension, but the mystery just felt unsatisfying.
1: The idea of a mystery isn't really present in this one, though many parts of it were quite enjoyable.
6: This is near the middle because I hate this movie some times and love it other times. The mystery is the worst I have ever seen in any Conan episode or movie, but the altreality thingie is quite fun.
2: Generally quite good, though the attempts to connect past and present were clunky at times, has a bit more emotion than the other movies.
5: A well done combination of drama and suspense, the final scene still cracks me up.
4: Though Ran's ammensia thing was rather silly this movie has a great mystery, ties things together well and has my favorite climax of all the movies.
3: Great setting, great characters, great plot, great climax. My favorite of the Conan movies, by a solid margin.

Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."
