Rereading the Song of the Lioness, as well as the Kampf um Daresh and (hopefully) Feuerblüte series (they both exist only in German). Funnily, all of them have heroines. Actually, now that I think about it, the Brandis books (the latter ones) don't even have any male humans that stay important for more than two books in a row (with, arguably, one exception). One the other hand, there aren't many female characters you can say that about either

Enjoying The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan. I'm soo enjoying it. I even renamed (not exactly 'rename') a character "Fai". It sounds way cooler than his real name, to me at least.

Currently reading "The House of Silk" by Anthony Horowitz, a Sherlock Holmes novel which has been approved by the Conan Doyle Estate. Although it's impossible to imitate Doyle's style 100%, it's been entertaining so far. I recomend it to all of you.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Found myself needing of a Sherlock fix, so I looked up and started reading John's blog. I think I find the comments section more entertaining than the actual blog posts, although the one about the Aluminum Crutch was pretty funny XD

I did that a while back, the voicemail was pretty good iirc and I liked it where John forces Sherlock to watch James Bond (part John's blog and partly Sherlock's website btw) it explains how he got the 007-BondAir reference
Main things I'm reading ATM are... TV Tropes (so much *_*) Sherlock fanfics (ff.net, livejournal and there's some on tumblr too...) and Girl, Missing (I've been so bored lately (plus Mafia-deprivation
) that I managed to finish about three books in the last two days, if only I spent as much time on homework
).

Re: What are you currently reading?
I've started on the Sherlock fics too, on TvTrope's recommendations XD (The abominable results of my own searches have taught me that the best way to avoid my eyeballs bleeding is to only read on reccomendation >_>) Currently reading everything ever by Morgan Stuart. Her character pieces are fantastic and her "Sofie" series in particular is by turns heartwarming, hilarious and utterly tragic. <3

Re: What are you currently reading?
Ah, I try to avoid OCs, but... Sofie's okay (only read a bit through that so far though) I s'pose... you might want to try this, it's almost a weird kind of meta fic, basically all the characters are part of the Sherlock fandom and write fics/do fanart based on the stories and the 2009 film, but 'cause they're the BBC!verse they don't... okay, it's hard to explain, but... you probably want to read it a some point.
(On a side note, the general quality for this fandom is actually quite good actually, I was looking for some post-Reichenbach fics earlier (not many on rec lists yet so you've got to look manually) and was pleasantly surprised, most of it's J/S slash or pre-slash though~).

Re: What are you currently reading?
I mainly like Sofie for what she brings out of Sherlock, John and Greg rather than as a character in and of herself, but she does get pretty interesting in the last oneshot XD The meta thing was kinda funny but starting to make my brain melt. I suspect the fandom here is of unusually high quality, though you can't possibly be surprised by the vast amounts of slashfic- People have been shipping Holmes and Watson since the nineteenth century, though until recent years this generally took the form of insisting that, secretly, Watson (occasionally Holmes, but generally Watson) was actually a woman. The show itself does not tone this down in any way, shape or form XDXD I personally don't go for the BBC's Sherlock and John in a sexual relationship because Sherlock is pretty much certainly asexual and John is clearly into women, but on an emotional there is definitely love, IMO. I prefer fluff fics of the pair over pr0n XDXDXD

Re: What are you currently reading?
Well...
With J/S for BBC... I'm not sure how Sherlock who's pretty much oblivious to the sexual side of things (he seems to know about it biologically, but not... socially...? Probably not the best word, but not sure how else to put it) could realistically y'know... at least not without serious character development. Feelings-wise, definitely potential, their relationship is obviously close and it's shown that others perceive it as close enough to be romantic, no one can deny that John has got him to open up much more than pretty much everyone else (Mycroft really has to stop dodging around what he says to Sherlock, those two may be hilarious to watch
, but it's really their own fault they're not that... close for siblings). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that emotionally they're probably attached more than what people view as friends, but categorising it... doesn't work *resists the urge to quote Jack Harkness*
(Random note: John could be Bi, not just het)

Re: What are you currently reading?
Sherlock/Irene is blatantly an intellectual attraction; he doesn't show any marked response to her strutting around buck-ass naked except to be annoyed that he can pick up no clues from her clothing; you could say that he simply didn't look at her body, as John tried heroically not to, but he did catch her measurements so he clearly had a good look and it was entirely analytical. He only reacts when she says "brainy's the new sexy", abruptly stuttering over his next sentence. The fascination grows when she one-ups him. Definitely an intellectual stimulation; he and John is an entirely emotional thing. I would say bromance, but it seems to juuuuuuuust go over that fine line between bromance and more... they kinda just went straight from "strangers" to "old married couple", y'know?
"You 21st century people and your quaint little categories..." *shot* though the whole conversation between Irene and John in the power station seemed to be there purely to highlight the absurdity of categorizing people so.
"We're not a couple."
"Yes you are."
"Look, for the record- if anyone out there still cares- I'm not actually gay."
"Well, I am. And look at us both."
Currently on some of Morgan Stuart's non-Sofie pieces. They're generally fantastic character pieces, but there are a few highly disturbing but fantastically written Moriarty-based torture pieces (generally of the psychological variety for Sherlock and the physical variety for poor old John and Greg, though in the one I just finished Mycroft got a look in too O_o). Really creepy, but they're all very much about the relationships between the characters. Loving it.
Also finished catching up to John's blog. Moriarty creeping around 221B while Mrs Hudson was in the house was deeply creepy, but the last entry made me cry. Just that one line...

You got the Jack quote \o/, which pretty much sums up the Sherlock/John relationship IMO...
And, yeah, tearjerker, that line, didn't you wonder where that 'I believe in Sherlock Holmes' thing came from? ;_;
(G'night o/)
"He was my best friend and I'll always believe in him"Â
