Making points that have nothing to do with the current discussion is what I meant. I was under the impression that we were discussing whether or not she could have been in Japan to kill a guy, which has nothing to do with where her home base is or how Ran talks to her. It has to do with if she's capable of disguising up and going traveling for a couple of days, which she is.

That does sound possible, though the probability isn't that high if you ask me. However, there is no solid proof to contradict it so I consider your idea a valid conjecture at this point. None of us know who that guy is and even though it is unlikely for the boss to appear without any prior "safety check" in such a compromising situation, there is no evidence that he isn't

It also neatly explains why Scar Akai goes after Camel, whose only clear connection with Akai was botching his mission.
