eh, it's not as bad as it could've been. I at least kinda get why considering this is a pre-story for a new movie and they didn't use the more overused or annoying new songs.

Also, the entire last case used a ton of songs from the soundtrack IIRC.

...but yes the old soundtrack would've objectively made this stupid episode at least a little bit better...

-Regardless of what quality this ends up being, Agasa genuinely sounding sad about only getting 2 cakes was amazing.

-Considering they specifically said she was in "Gomera", I'm assuming it's one of those reboots where they stupidly use the name of the original in order to be confusing idiots.

-Ok, Haibara being scary about a stupid drama is also amazing.

Hotel room, Detective Boys in a murder case and one suspect. All it needs is Chiba's love story to complete my apathy to this case! Yeah...

-A selfie stick is part of a Detective Conan case.

-What an idiot.

Case was meeeeeeeeeeeeh outside of a couple of things. I have to like a trick that silly. But that ending with this Kuroda guy. Intriguing. I especially liked how it just went to black at the end. No cool, still image, just...nothing. Ended more like a western tv show kinda.

Episode 816: The Disappointing and Kind Alien

-I don't think most people would react that way to someone jumping out at night in an alien costume.

-"How could he kill someone by pretending to be an alien?" Good question!

-"So that's why it was non-threatening!" "It was made for kids." ...did you guys forget you are also kids? I mean, I get why considering all that happens but that's kinda Conan/Haibara's thing and they are much more literal about why they are not considering themselves children.

Episode 817: The Missing Fiancée

-Opening was really cool, even if I'm not entirely sure this was the most logical use of this particular B'z song. Doesn't exactly have the level of energy that would make sense for this.

-"What a conveniently well-informed neighbor." No idea if this is supposed to be suspicious or not.

-"and made a of couple calls" Indeed!

Well, that was interesting. I'm not even sure what I think about it, but it wasn't the typical formula for a case at all. I should've been suspicious when the murderers were supposedly revealed at the start but it's a 1 episode AO and Conan has been the obvious occasionally in the past. I did appreciate that Kogoro wasn't an idiot or an asshole towards Conan.

Episode 818: Kogoro's Pursuit of Rage (Part 1)

-I'd like to believe this is about Kogoro trying to find the Lake of Rage from Pokemon S/G/C, but I doubt it.

I do tend to like kidnapping cases when they happen. They give the episode/s a sense of urgency instead of "let's stare at things in an apartment for 40 minutes". While Ran being kidnapped feels a little bit too...obvious, it's still fun. And I say fun because lololololol at the idea that Ran is in any real danger. "Oh no, what will happen to Ran, in a filler episode 800+ episodes in?!" Pffft, ok.

-OH CMON, SHINICHI CALLED HER OFF SCREEN. BOO! BOO!!! That actually legitimately annoys me. They don't call each other remotely enough for people you are reminded all the hyping time are the one true love of the series, and one of the times they do it's off-screen? hyping really?

This was fun despite that. Kogoro is so awesome btw. One of the all time great characters, I swear to God.

Episode 820: The Seven People in the Waiting Room

-Backpacker. The most respectable of careers.

-Y'know, if Conan had a nosebleed like the first time, would it be all black? I just thought of this. Wouldn't that be hilariously stupid?

This case was cool. I like when the suspects have something at least resembling a personality or a life beyond "nice", "bitchy", "clumsy", "horrible human being who will die" etc. They are the characters we have to focus on usually, after all.
