He was trying out the sleeping Kogoro deduction. So he took some sleeping pills and was asleep almost the whole day. Of course, there was no deduction whatsoever :x

He made Kogoro go with him to a crime scene, then tried to put him to sleep and solve the case as Sleeping Kogoro. He would then see what reaction Conan has when he finds out Kogoro solved the case sleeping.
For his investigation, obviously; definitely not for fun.
