Well, I wonder how many spies that infiltrated BO.. since there are some spies who infiltrated BO that will be introduce in this movie..
DC movies are non-canon—they have no impact on the manga. Any characters introduced in this movie will most likely never be introduced in the manga (especially if they end up dead).
I see..
The women also probably won't introduced in manga, then..

They died in the trailer already lol
It's amazing they managed too pull Raven Chaser off while still making it exciting with so many close encounters. I don't get why people here hate Raven Chaser; we all know none of that's gonna impact the comic so that's all they can work for and that's what you get. Like just from the first trailer I knew Conan will have a dream and Irish is a dead man walking.
Same with this one nothing in Darkest Nightmare can affect the comics so don't get your hopes up that they reveal Rum's identity. Kir and Bourbon will probably be cleared of all suspision, too. That poor woman could possibly die cause she knows too much (or be put in the witness protection program by FBI)
Though IDK how they're gonna pull this one off, too much at stake......
So that...
It won't disturb the manga, just like another story then..
So, it can't make us closer to BO..

'course not. The manga chapter is already doing that with lots of Rum cases.

Because it's not Movie 5, I guess, since Movie 5 is loved by pretty much everyone—it came out while the Vermouth arc was going on (2001), which was considered to be the best of times for DC, was the first BO movie, and because the quality of the mystery was really good (the mysteries of the first 5 are better than those of the last 15, if you ask those with a bunch of mystery experience).
It's not hate, really—I think the opinion is, "Movies 7 (or 6, depending on how you rank the movies) through 19 (and 20 will likely be included, as well) are inferior in quality to Movies 1 through 6 (or 5 depending on how you rank the movies)"

If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

brutally honest, I never got the praise for Movie 5. The BO stuff is underutilized even compared to Movie 13 and the case is only mildly interesting. And I never liked how they used Haibara in it.

It's pretty much the same for me. I like it, but not that much.

that's not what I mean, of course the classics tops the later movies. Though movie 8, 10, 13, 16, and 18 I greatly enjoyed and find them just as iconic, movie 6 is the highest point of Conan movie history tho, everyone I've talked to knew about that movie.
I'm talking about people not wanting another movie 13 calling it disappointing cause it seemed to have a lot of promise.
They need to educate themselves on the one fact, and I'mma say it again: THE MOVIES WILL NOT EFFECT THE PLOT. Everything is reset to 0 and the end of the movie so nothing changes the plot of the manga.
They managed to give us an exciting movie without affecting the manga and yet people are disappointed that nothing happened. Like wake up!

If anything, I wish they'd just let the movies go total non-canon, and let them take a bunch of risks.
In terms of the manga and the movies, the manga affects the movies (Movie 18 –> Shuichi is Subaru reveal in Scarlet Showdown; Movie 20 –> Rum being the focus of a bunch of the 2016 manga cases).

Movie 13 had the BO mostly in the backside until the final act. Its villain was a BO agent in a disguise, something we've seen before done better with a better character. Gin and co are flying ridiculously on a chopper for god knows what reason. And finally the actual mystery of the movie (as in, the case Conan and the police spent most of the movie on) was uneventful and boring.
So it was a BO movie without much BO in it, the little there was of the BO was fairly dumb, and the core mystery of the movie was forgettable.
It's perfectly understandable why some people don't want another "movie 13".

You could say that with movie 5, too. Movie 5 barely had any BO in it compared to movie 13. The showdown between Vermouth and Conan in the parking lot was everything (you don't get to see that kind of interaction in manga)
I mean they were just trying to kill two people and some data in movie 5 and they had to blow up an entire building?!
With the movie of course the BO cases are gonna be forced into the plot cause it's not manga central story. I don't know why you guys are not getting it I keep repeating myself: MOVIE does not effect MANGA. so of course whatever happens in the movie stays in the movie and the ending and plot is always contained. REAL BATTLE WITH BO is NEVER GONNA HAPPEN in the MOVIE.
The manga is always better cause whatever the outcome will affect the next encounter that actually moves the plot.
oh and case wise, the actual cases in Conan movies after movie 6 have always been pretty bad save for a few. So there's nothing to be mad about, it's been like that since 2003. Gosho is the only one that can come up with a good case. I don't konw if anyone's noticed but the movie cases never have much tircks when killing someone. No lock room mystery or any schemes to disguise the murderer.

I don't know why you are shouting once again that movies do not effect the manga. Nothing in my post had anything to do with the manga, so it's weird you bring it up again. It could be that you are arguing against a strawman, stop arguing against a strawman (I can assure you most of the members here know perfectly well the movies don't affect the manga). You may want to knock it off with the attitude, though.

No one is mad about anything actually. But "cases have been bad in general" isn't really a good defense for the movie. It's an apologia.
Kor wrote:But "cases have been bad in general" isn't really a good defense for the movie. It's an apologia.
"Apologia" is pejorative? Or are you applying at as pejorative in the case of Movie 13?
This is coming from someone who only found out about it because you used it in your post, by the way...

I meant that it's an apologetic argument to make. Saying that cases have been bad in general doesn't exactly make the movie/case better. It's basically an excuse saying it's "okay it's not that great" because "the other ones weren't really great either". Hence I said that it's not a good defense.
On its own, I don't think that word is purely a pejorative and it can probably be more neutral in other contexts. At least that's my impression based on its dictionary definition. I'm not a professional on the English language, though.

So do apologists just make excuses? Or just the ones who don't have clear understandings of what they're defending, and/or are emotionally provoked by criticism of something they feel doesn't deserve it? Would I be correct in assuming we both think there are persuasive apologia? But I do get your point, in the case of Movie 13 (and every movie after 5 or 6, in general).
Neither am I.
