I was thinking of this, too. To me, with the characters being animated, it has a stronger hold on me when it comes to these tragic situations than a regular actress--I know--plays the part.  ??? Makes sense?

Hadashi no Gen
X
Perfect Blue
Hikaru no Go
Babylon Tokyo
Black Lagoon Second Barrage
Fate/Stay Night
Wolf's Rain
Mirage of Blaze

I'll stop here because I'm a crybaby, and there are too many to name.

I know exactly how you feel. I love the movie Sometimes in April, but I could never get off into Hotel Rwanda because I kept thinking 'that's Don Cheadle with a funny accent'.

yup, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien brought tears..
The Rose of Versailles gets me every time... especially episode 39. That episode broke my heart.

finally a rov's fan  :D!! me too, episode 39 gave me a hard time that I decided not to watch it anymore without tissues  ;D

as for me, what not just brought tears, but what made me cry as a little child was A little Princess Sara and Lady Lady ..

A lot of shows make me cry... I'm a sentimental fool, I know (haha, even some conan eps have made me shed a tear).  But the one that sticks out in my mind is AIR.  Never fails to make me cry no matter how many times I've seen the ending.

I have to say that the only anime that has ever really made me cry was Yu Yu Hakusho.  It's kinda lame, but there are several teary moments in the series that I found really touching. T.T *sniffle, sniffle*

I never cried from a show, but there were times when scenes appealed to my emotions.

-I think my first one was in DBZ when Vegeta blew himself up to try to save the world. (Vegeta's my fav char)
No idea in order from then on, but..
-Movie 8 in DC where Ran said something to Shinichi (Well, Conan). I forgot what though >_>
-When Gaara nearly killed Rock Lee and I thought he was out. Then he got back up into his fighting stance unconsciously.
-Whenever an anime/manga series ends. (A boxing manga that starts with K... Kenshin.. DBZ.. DB.. PoT..etc)
-Lots of times in Hajime no Ippo.

I am a twisted person, here I love anime and everything, but it seems heartbreak has everything to do with it. First off i most note I started watching anime back in 1999, seriously for the first time. alot of it. Of course i watch much more now. Well anywho i would become super depressed after every season ended in anticipation for the next, but then soon figured out how to download and watched the entire series in a day, which again made me depressed. So depressed in fact i felt i needed to feed this insatibale hunger with more anime, and next thing i known i was 20 in colelge, and in alot of my spar time i still watch anime, i've seen over 200 or more series in fact..... well i am sure you all relize the scenrio. He watches because he depressed, but is depressed because he watches, how long will it be till he watches every anime.....? ha lets not joke, but anyways, when a series ends, or i just can't get enough anime, i become epressed and maybe even tearful. Sorry for the rant...

despite being a relatively short arc, the most powerful for me was the climax of the DC anime ep 84-85, the

Ginban Kaleidoscope, no doubt!! The last episode made me cry. Too bad Pete had to go.  :'(

Also La Corda d'Oro. I don't know why but my tears kept falling and I keep on wiping  :D. I don't know for what reason because the story is sad but not a tear-jerker.
Hmm... maybe it's the music...  :-\  :D

Gakuen Alice!!!!!!!
Bear and Kaname-sempai's episode made me cry  :'(
