follow it with La Corda d'Oro "second passo"dcfan01 wrote: Thank you for the ost recommendation, but as kyuuketsuki said, i'm looking for a music-centered anime.
i just finished "La corda d'oro" (another classical music related) and it's pretty good.
i don't know if there are more anime like this, but i started watching skip beat and i liked it. it's very funny. so thank you, blurfbreg, for that recommendation.![]()

most of them are not related to music, are they (i.e. the story doesn't revolve around producing music)?cdgal wrote: ...
Anyway, I've heard Nodame Cantabile and Detroit Metal City are good. Nodame Cantabile however is too romantic to my taste (I'm not really into romance, I prefer comedy and action ^^), and I've still got to try out DMC. Oh, and the Macross series are also centered around music, but that's more like using music as a weapon. You'll like it or you won't, it differs from person to person. I didn't like it, I don't know why, I guess the emotions weren't clear enough or something. I just couldn't get sucked into the anime, it bored the hell out of me. But most people like it, so you'd better try it out once.

Re: Good music related anime
Detroit Metal City is oddly good... I don't know why...
However my favorite still stands with Beck...
Also to those of you that think K-ON is anything like Beck... really should be shot... The demographics are completely different and the aim was different in both.
I hated K-ON for many reasons... And liked Beck for many others... Which I shall list now...
Hate K-ON:
-TOO MUCH MOE! Yea I know some think that is impossible... but to me it really detracted from the musical aspect of the show
-There was barely any music in K-ON... I think maybe 2 or 3 songs aside from the OP and ED. And the only song I actually really liked was the ED
-Most of what was going on had nothing to do with music, how can you have a musical anime revolving around moe? It doesn't work.
-Too short, they barely developed the story if at all... Well actually that could be off... I just remember not being statisfied... I remember being able to skip 60% of it and actually know what was going on after each episode... I don't know, but I think the hallmark of a great anime is if you miss a KEY episode, the next key episode will make no sense. IE: watch DC 129 BEFORE 128... Chances are you'll be scratching your head not knowing what they are talking about at times, because you will not have seen the 1 million yen robbery case.
Like Beck:
-Musical selection. They covered rock, rap, pop, synthpop, Visual kei, blues. Can't recall if they had any Jazz, but I don't think so... Regardless that is damned good range
-OST was fantastic, and real bands wrote and helped play the music. Making the quality of the music much better. They even released the OST Kieth releasing the music of Beck played by the actual bands with their individual vocalists [Goofy's Holiday - Journey = <3]
-Most of the episodes were music related in some way. especially after Beck is formed.
-It was serious and actually portrayed the challenges of the music industry fairly accurately
Btw... Those of you that know the B'z [Though all of you should since 5? songs were in Detective Conan]... is it me or was there a parallel between B'z and Dying Breed, as in they were an exact reflection of each other [Except the singer in Dying Breed was too wild to be like Koshi] But regardless... Really talented guitarist with really talented vocalist being the #1 musical artist in their country? Similarities anyone?

The only time I thought of Beck and K-On! in the same sentence was when a K-On youtube poop said "Mongolian Loli Squad", Kyuu-tan.

Which is why I thought it wasn't that great. I already knew it was moe-blob, so my expectations were lower to begin with.kyuuketsuki wrote: -TOO MUCH MOE! Yea I know some think that is impossible... but to me it really detracted from the musical aspect of the show
