Well, I'm a German native and here we use the preposition "auf" (which would translate to "on") when talking about islands. That's why I used "on"; as Hawaii is an island. But I think everyone still got the joke ^^ In fact "in Hawaii" sounds soooo wrong to me (as you really get it drummed into you not to say "in [/i] " )

Actually, in German, "in [island]" can be correct, if that island happens to be a country as well. So, "in Kuba" (Cuba) or "in Island" (Iceland) are correct. I'm not sure how it works in English, though, and Hawaii is probably a difficult case anyway, as it is a state as well as both an island and a group of islands.

I know, but I thought it would get too complicated; so I just explained why I used "on". I think in the German versions of the movies they used "auf Hawaii" (I probably had that in the back of my mind)
