The final case of the double digit volume era (1995–2020/Volume 10–Volume 99), with the final file of the double digit volume era (File 1,058), and the first file of the triple digit volume era (File 1,059).

Spoiler pics for 1,058 now out (albeit very small).

Both Yusaku and Yukiko make an appearance.

So file 1058 starts off with a double...
"Yusaku appears to be talking to the press about some case. Conan accompanies Yukiko while grocery shopping and then later reads about Yusaku’s new case in the Kudo Mansion. He goes to speak to his father, but suddenly, there appear to be two Yusakus in the mansion…?" quoted from https://serinoxtv.tumblr.com/

And back then in File 336 - Clean Scent someone was already looking into Kogoro it seems...
"Takagi, making sure none is eavesdropping their conversation, tells Conan someone is secretly interested in Kogoro Mouri. They don't know yet if they should tell Mouri about it and protect him. Actually, all the reports and files of the cases Mouri has solved in Tokyo and its department, and that were stored at the Prefectural Police, were stolen recently. Hopefully, the police always duplicate the reports and files, and keep them into their well-protected archives, then there won't be any incidence on the trials. The most surprising thing is that all the files and reports were sent back to them yesterday evening by post, but the sender's name or place wasn't mentioned. As Takagi tells Conan the theft occurred the same day the hijacking bus case (vol. 29) took place, Conan thinks about Shuichi Akai once more. The police have a few leads as far as who among Mouri's "victims" or enemies are concerned and could do it, yet these are only suppositions and they're reaching stalemate as for now. Though, Takagi says this might be some bad joke after all, and anyway if Conan spots someone fishy around, he should come or call the police at once. Conan inwardly comments that Kogoro may not be the one actually targeted, but probably Conan himself, or someone he knows. " quoted from wiki: https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Volume_33
well... question in my head would be... if somebody (presumably someone from B.O.) was able to get files on Kogoro that were stored at the Prefectural Police and even able to return them without getting caught in doing so, then that means they can also get files on and about Shinichi Kudo stored in the police department, so why would RUM still want Bourbon to look into Shinichi? Makes me wonder whether it was Bourbon that was being suspected rather than Shinichi. ;D If it echos with case of The Darkness of the Prefectural Police (file 913~ 917) where Kuroda was already suspicious of a fellow policeman and his signal that Yamato was the biggest suspect was a fake one designed to throw off that "traitor" and lure him out, then perhaps his orders to Bourbon to investiage Shinichi was also a plan to find out his true colors?

whatver happens in fake yusaku thing.
my comments are following:
1) First of all this is not a joke. i.e. nobody like yukiko or subaru is joking by wearing yusaku disguise
I think this is serious bo thing.
2) why subaru isnt here. I guess bo agent disguised as yusaku has fallen into trap set by shuichi bourbon and yusaku.
3) I am sure this is start of bo series in volume 100.
4) Although there is a method I can think through which gosho can preserve status quo even after this lol.

That was Vermouth, during the Vermouth arc—she stole those around the time of the Bus Jacking Case (File 287–File 289/Episode 230–Episode 231). Unless she gave them to another BO member (which is unlikely, considering she doesn't even want the Boss to know about her dealings with Shinichi/Conan), that plot thread ended back during the Vermouth arc and won't return now for this arc.

Most likely, the impostor showing up at the door with a grin is Kid. The most he was involved in the BO plot was Mystery Train—unless Gosho plans to get him even more involved, I don't think this will lead to any big development in the BO plot. Most we'll likely get is a typical stinger/cliffhanger on the last page of the case's final file.

why do you think he is kid?
I dont think gosho will link kid to shinichi much coz there isnt any reason for doing so.
kid only appears for big jewels or somebody trying to
frame a murder on kid. which I dont think is the case.
what will kid get by impersonating yusaku?

Because this is going to be a Kid case—Kid's likely showing up to make some kind of request of Shinichi/Conan, or is making such a attention-grabbing entrance as part of a plan for a heist.

There are three principal disguise users in the Gosho-verse—Yukiko, Vermouth, and a certain family of phantom thieves (who taught those two actresses the skill to begin with). In essence, I think Gosho is going to subvert things like usual—Vermouth or someone she's put the disguise on is making a move on the Kudō Residence! BO attack imminent...! Only to reveal, nope, it's just Kid. He's trying to make us think this is a BO case, only to reveal that it isn't. We haven't had a Kid case since 2018, so him appearing after a two year absence sounds right.

Now, could there be some kind of BO link in this case? Sure, the stinger/cliffhanger I mentioned could happen, after some prior hints throughout the case that will allude to such an ending, after the case is solved (like the last case ended with Rei/Bourbon looking at the picture he took of Rumi). But I don't think this case, itself, will have the BO as a focus.

A huge alarm bell is misao yamamura in this case .
why he came out of gunma?
he is the only recurring character not knowing conan identity who was told that conan is yukiko 's son.
see the brazilian uncle case. (yamamura introduction case)

but what I think instead of yamamura messing up things for conan if that new yusaku is bo guy,
misao may help conan coz he is actually told that conan is yukiko's second son and not shinichi.
in the kogoro suspect case misao almost blew up conan idemtity as yukiko's son in front of ran.

so if you assume conan already messed up by saying yusaku as "dad". yukiko could say he is their second son to cover up and misao could attest to it.
this is I hope how things will be resolved temporarily
even though bo is involved.

Volume 100 is big milestone. so expecting bo is more rational than kid.

If he is showing up, that is worthy of at least some note.

I just don't see Vermouth doing that. The only one she's put a disguise on is Rei/Bourbon, and they have a deal regarding Shinichi's/Conan's safety, as well.

Yep, that would be an easy out for them (and Goshō).

However, this case won't be the only case in Volume 100. Even if this case is 5 files, there'll still be 7 files remaining in Volume 100. Only when the next 2-3 cases have come out can we be sure whether or not Volume 100 will have a "big" BO case in it or not. Also, my default is to assume Gosho will merely tease and prolong the wait rather than dive right into the thick of the BO plot, even with this auspicious occasion of the volume count reaching triple digits... thus, I assume Gosho using the allure of the BO as a fakeout before I assume he's actually going into the BO plot.

I also think this is Kid. And if it isn't Kid, it's Yukiko disguising as her husband for whatever reason (though if it's her, she isn't currently wearing a voice changing choker so she'd probably need Conan to get her one).

Technically this case is starting in vol 99 still, though.

But as DCUA said, it could lead to a BO case, or it might have yet another revelation (big or small). My expectations for vol 100 aren't that high at the moment, though. I do hope we'll get something, but dunno how big that something will be.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that ever since Heiji's introduction in 1995, there hasn't been a single year without a heiji case, and very little ever happens in those nowadays (besides some minor revelation or a small hint), and since we haven't had a Heiji case in 2020, it's possible 4-5 chapters of vol 100 may be waste— I mean, spent, on a Heiji case.

But hey, maybe the vol 100 event (if there is one) will be the long awaited Heiji confession to Kazuha.

It could be them doing what they did back when they were introduced, but while that's possible, I find it unlikely.

Yep, and it's even been almost exactly a year since Heiji was in a case (1,039–1,042 came out August/September of 2019). Maybe that means Momiji and Muga will be involved, as well.

I don't know if the Kid case from two years ago was an indicator that he and Heiji will be encountering each other more often or not, but if it is, plot can still be happening during all that—that Kid case from two years ago was when we got the Scotch is Taka'aki's/Kōmei's brother reveal (and the last Heiji case had Momiji and the Ōoka family being requested for help by the Haneda family, so there's that, as well).

Throw in anything about Rum and the Akais, on top of that, and we could get a big convergence this case (or maybe that's what the immediately succesive cases will be about).

And yes, Volume 100 would be a nice place for Heiji and Kazuha to have their moment.

So the clear spoilers are out. surprise their are 3 yusakus
not 2 lol.
the translation which I read is like this :
yusaku needs to talk TV reporters probably regarding a case. but he had food poisoning and hence yukiko dressed
as him. " its confirmed second yusaku is yukiko".
so that she will play him in front of reporters .
but she also fell ill coz of food poisoning and there is predicamemt.
then rings the bell and conan opens the door and lol.
we have a third yusaku standing at door.
this one without voice changer. "he has clean neck".

So... so far it seems like people who look at this case see it either as a serious BO case or another joke from Kid, so that's like 50/50, eh? ;)

So... we know that the upcoming Conan movie 24 is titled the Scarlet Bullet, and movie posters somewhat featured Akai as the center character, so... although the Scarlet arc may appear to be a thing in the past, the fact that the latest movie that is released during the RUM arc chose the theme "Scarlet" as it's title may imply that the RUM arc features the theme of Scarlet, and ...

"Scarlet, as a term, may have 2 different dimensions.
Indeed,
Scarlet
is a color, a shade of red, hence whatever that color is associated with must be relevant to the story. However, in my humble opinion, the term Scarlet also plays a second role: a reference to Sir Conan Arthur Doyle’s
A Study in Scarlet
.
Scarlet as a color: refers to Akai Shuuichi, as a character.
Scarlet as a reference: refers to the story of the arc as a whole." quoted from this site: https://silverbulletsama.tumblr.com/pos ... ii-nicolle

If one really look into the story of "A Study in Scarlet" written by Sir Conan Arthur Doyle, then there is a part where culprit was holding
"a small box containing two pills. The pillbox Lestrade still has with him. Holmes tests the pills on an old and sickly Scottish terrier in residence at Baker Street. The first pill produces no evident effect, but the second kills the terrier. Holmes deduces that one was harmless and the other poison." quoted from wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Study_in_Scarlet

Which seemingly blends in with this whole Rumi/shogi piece mystery... she may be harmless or she may be poison... the shogi piece maybe harmless or it maybe poison, and also because the chance of each one of the three suspects being RUM or not is also 50/50. ;D

There's no 50/50 on Rumi for me—I think Muga or Chikara turning out to be Rum is more likely than Rumi turning out to be Rum (though I've been seriously questioning whether the fourth suspect route is still possible, let alone likely—if the scene with Agasa and the four mugs from the beginning of the arc was there to say there'll be four Rum suspects, and there'll be "cheating" on Goshō's part... then Goshō going as far to lie in an interview, an out-of-universe cheat, seems to me to be going too far in the cheating, because my assumption was that this cheating would be relegated to in-universe cheats, in the manga, itself).
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”
“Education never ends... it is a series of lessons, with the greatest for the last.”
