I watched and... I somehow liked it. The usual impossible stuff happened, but somehow it was enjoyable just to watch it. Not minding its' faults made it good for me. It was weird to see that many weapons and shots and everything. And Sonoko looked like Haibara to me sometimes.

Yeah, that surprised me, how similar she looks to Shiho with her hair down—even knowing something similar happened in Movie 5.Misztina wrote:And Sonoko looked like Haibara to me sometimes.

Well, time to give my thoughts to this.
-Oh look, a unique building. I WONDER IF IT WILL EXPLODE?!
-"Can we talk in Japanese? People can already tell we're not fluent English speakers anyway"
-He's way too chill about her suddenly being dead. Even ignoring the explosion and chaos.
-I like seeing the full spectrum of Engrish from "lol what" to "actually really good"
-Oh no, the lion fountain is spitting out blood! That's dark...
-Oh the school trip is being mentioned. Huh
-Agasa, how do you even still have quizzes?
-Agasa, why do you have that costume?
-Well...I mean...I can't say I saw that coming!
-I'll be honest, if you went into this movie somehow not being aware of the story of Detective Conan, I'd still think you'd be a bit confused even with the typical recap stuff. "Wait so what does this Kid guy have to do with you becoming a kid?"
-At some point the recap is gonna end up like when the Openings to the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei anime kept adding more and more nonsense on top of nonsense.
-Wow the setup to this tournament is very similar to the one I thought up for how to do a sequel story to Makoto vs. Kid.
-Arthur Hirai hahaha
-Don't fight Makoto, ever
-Wow if he can't participate, at least the winner won't be obvious
-Fist of Blue Sapphire is my favorite Fist of the North Star spinoff
-Shinichi-Kid is way too obvious right now
-Makoto broke that giant-ass spear like it was tinfoil
-I like this big karate guy. The Engrish just adds to the charm for him specifically.
-And this detective is too good...
-Imagine if Kid was caught and his identity revealed because of a guy with a taser
-Wait, are you gonna kill him?! Dude, you caught him stealing, just take him to the police!
-So...were you not trying to kill him? Because I'm pretty sure drowning him would mean you attempted murder. Even if you catch him, he has that on you.
-Kid just shot a guy without looking XD
-Fists vs. cards vs soccer balls. Truly, the fight for the ages
-Kid not realizing where this whole ShinRan situation is at is great. Like you'd kinda think Kid is just inherently more of a romantic type but basically no one would actually want to be in this awkward position.
-Ran clearly isn't being shy with Shinichi anymore
-ONE PUUUUUUUNCH!!!!
-So was the echoes for dramatic effect or did that actually happen?
-Well of course it would be Kid, why am I surprised?
-It's really weird for Japanese Kogoro to be talking about Rachel :V
-Yes...that's clearly a giant bird. Like wow...she's like the "Is this a pigeon?" meme but with Kid.
-I swear if Rachel was in a relationship with someone named Jimmy...
-I have to admit, I legit lol'd at Kid trying to keep a smile on his face, and he just falls down mid-sentence
-OMG that line delivery ruled! "THIS LOOKS BAD!" What even
-Dude, Makoto could rip your arm off if he wanted to. Stop it.
-Wait wait wait, The guy brought his nunchucks to the restaurant? I have so many questions.
-Seriously, who are these people?! What is happening?!
-What is happening in Singapore? Guys attacking restaurants, police dying in their cars. It's chaos!
-Ok, this is the second time this month I've seen someone try to pull the Gainax pose while in a small boat
-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXpuRIZzJog
-Conan sick of notShinichi's crap
-What type of magic hologram world were they sent to?
-Wait...how did he even end up in that position? It's like he was laying there but then was knocked into the air.
-Why are these people laughing?
-"I will build a new city." ...good luck with that
-So this movie has had, a fighting tournament, random guys with nunchucks, murder, attempted murder as part of the plan to capture a thief, and now pirates. What else will happen?
-This is one crazy plan
-Ran is in danger in a Conan movie? Why...I am shocked. I could never have seen this happening? How did these geniuses pull such an amazing plot twist after 23 movies?
-Man the visual and audio people are going all out for this
-Actually, if Kogoro is the real person needing to be saved because he's drunk, that would be pretty funny
-"Why are you?"
-So wait, was Rishi the real villain all along?
-And now the pirates and another explosion. It's just too much
-Makoto's gonna go Super Saiyan!
-HELL YEAH, ANIME PUNCH!!!!
-And everyone died, the end.
-...I don't know how a bandage like that even works...
-She knew all along!
I love the hell out of that movie? Was it good? ...eh? Like even compared to movie 20 which kind of had an excuse, this was kinda too insane and out there even by those standards. And the character stuff was a bit hit or miss. But was I entertained? Oh you better believe I was. This was just so insane, that I had to like it. Like it refused to ever stop. It was kind of incredible.

Re: Detective Conan Movie 23 (2019) - The Fist of Blue Sapphire (紺青の拳 ) - Friday April 12
So I finally watched the film and idk... this movie was way better than I expected it to be. Every time I thought it was going to be obvious, it was not. Every time I thought it would falter, it did not even with such an over-the-top villains. I was really impressed with how much substance they managed to stuff into this. The way they inserted Kid, Makoto and Sonoko was amazing. The post-ending credit scene is my favourite out of all the Conan movies that I can remember. I was really hyped because right before Kaito found the body of the secretary Rachel, we saw Ran with that really serious face. I was like damn...
The big reveal moment was interesting. My problem with it was the fact how little Conan and Kaito had on their hands to point out the true identity of the culprit (the clues they had were the Advancement notice's appearance time frame and Conan's question to the mastermind about where Leon would go in the type of situation where his plan is about to come to fruitition). I didn't really expect the reveal because of that. But the mystery of who left the Kaito Kid Advancement Notice Card on the scene of the crime (along with another Kaito lure being the Fist - the mastermind wanted Kaito to hinder the killer's actions) and the explanation with what we knew (about his oceanographic father etc) makes a lot of sense with how it all connects to the Fist. And the theme of the Fist of Blue Sapphire is just beautiful, since it's obviously about Makoto's omnipotent fist. The bodyguard got destroyed when he got serious.
One of the scenes that I found very impressive was when they went through the explanation about why Kaito would dress up as the 2nd victim Rachel and why Leon expected Kaito to do so, it's really subtle but when you think about it, it's actually a very classical trick except in a far larger and more modern setting:
It's the fact that Rachel wanted to meet Kogoro at 3 PM. Because they knew in advance that she would not be appearing at the scene where the belt with the jewel is, Kaito would obviously dress up as her as she's by far the safest person out of the possible ones (with access to the security system there are only the old guy Chen, Leon himself, his bodyguard Jamaluddin and obviously Rachel who was the secretary.) that Kaito would dress up as - that was the reason Kaito dressed up as Rachel, and that was the reason why Leon could frame Kaito for her murder so effectively because Kaito hacked the security cameras and was disguised as Rachel, the only person they'd suspect of killing Rachel was literally Kaito as the guards would testify about her being alive right before it, even though she died a while before in reality.
Also, the movie looked amazing. That was a joy to watch and think about for like ten hours straight. Oh by the way the scene where the oil tanker is hitting the Marina Bay is fantastic. Everyone is running and it's kind of action filled scene, except they play old classical like Mozart or Bach music there.

That was Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy, I believe (shout-out to Danganronpa V3 for making me more familiar with this piece of music). And indeed, that scene was really good.k11chi wrote:Oh by the way the scene where the oil tanker is hitting the Marina Bay is fantastic. Re: Detective Conan Movie 23 (2019) - The Fist of Blue Sapphire (紺青の拳 ) - Friday April 12
Finally came around to watch the film and, well, I guess it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. It’s all about expectations: while The Darkest Nightmare (at least in theory) seemed promising because it featured the organization, the premise of The Fist of Blue Sapphire leaves no doubt that this would probably become the most absurd entry in the series ever. Indeed: after they’d lost me with “Arthur Hirai”—an extraordinarily dumb concept even for the movies—, I already forgot what was happening while it was happening.
What may have helped make the overall experience less insulting is that Agasa’s quiz gets out of the way fast, that the Detective Boys are basically non-existent, and that Singapore simply is an interesting setting. Otherwise, I likely won’t remember any of this as anything but Nonsense No. 23.

No, wait, this scene I actually found to be quite beautiful. Can’t compensate for the rest, though.DCUniverseAficionado wrote: ↑February 24th, 2020, 2:52 amThat was Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy, I believe (shout-out to Danganronpa V3 for making me more familiar with this piece of music). The whole movie left me confused, everything was so weird, at least there was a good build up and some nice interactions. But the enemies both the lion and the other kid made so little sense. The mistery was verryyyy weird and the ending with the bazookas and stuff was wtf they are bombing the city but he needed the gem to bomb the city with the pirates idk. Hope next one is better than this one, i like they are following the main series develpment!

I'm still trying to find someplace to actually watch this film. I'm playing catch up. Just watched movie 22, which I kinda liked. As for this one, since it's a Kaito Kid film, I'm a bit hesitant since they usually bore me in some way, but I'm always willing to give it a chance. Hope I can find it someplace.

M22 is a very odd movie as it tackles the theme of corruption in the justice system, which makes for interesting plots. Kind of like AA5: Dual Destinies or AAI2.ssjup81 wrote: ↑August 18th, 2020, 12:01 amI'm still trying to find someplace to actually watch this film. I'm playing catch up. Yes, the corruptness is what made it interesting for me. I'm about to watch movie 23 tonight. Hope it's a fun one.k11chi wrote: ↑August 22nd, 2020, 11:38 amM22 is a very odd movie as it tackles the theme of corruption in the justice system, which makes for interesting plots.
