I read through it all, and although I think some parallels aren't that strong, a lot of them were interestingly fitting and might just be an indication to his influence from Journey To The West. The fact that Gosho has repeatedly shown interest to it does make some of these parallels have some legitimacy. Good work! I will go through some of the things that stook out to me.
jimmy_kud0_tv2 wrote:Things like Sakurako and Kuroda being potential references to Cherry and Sakurambo from Urusei Yatsura and therefore related to each other seemed like a decent idea especially since they both appeared in the same case at the same time. It was almost like Kuroda could have actually gone there to pick her up from the crime scene since she just vanished and he used that opportunity coincidentally to tell Conan that he was now in Tokyo. However nothing has come from this and as we move forward it seems less and less likely that there would be any point to it. So unless something comes out of it in the upcoming police themed Chiba/Naeko case which could feature both Sakurako and Kuroda, I would kind of ignore it.
I fully agree.
jimmy_kud0_tv2 wrote:Lets start with Wakasa Rumi, I believe that she might be a reference to the character of Son Goku (Sun Wukong), the Monkey King. Goku is the most main character of JTTW and the character that you learn the most about from the story. He was born a stone monkey and worked his way up to demon status before forcing his way into Heavenly ranking where he was treated poorly by the Jade Emperor and given lowly tasks like cleaning the Heavenly horse stables or guarding the peaches of immortality/ pills of longevity. Because of this mistreatment he launches an attack on the Heavenly forces and steals the peaches/pills but is eventually capture by one of the gods and placed in a crucible that was lit with heavenly fire. He managed to escape but the fires damaged his eyes giving him the power to see the true nature of all people. This came in handy later on the actual Journey when demons would approach the priest disguised as humans, he would be able to see them coming and kill them before they could attack. Additionally there are other stories about him like him getting dragged down to Hell where he went before the gods of hell and managed to take the Book of Life and Death from them and erase his own name and the names of all monkeys known to him from the book.
As for Wakasa Rumi I think this means that she will end up being Amanda Hughes from the Kohji case after having the original form of APTX used on her changing her from the stone monkey to the demon monkey king. She seems to have this similar thing going on with her eyes on how she can tell the nature of other people and talks like a demon herself.
Her glasses and hitting her head on things may actually be a reference to the headband that Goku is forced to wear that when he refuses to follow the priest's orders it tightens and gives him headaches. She ends her introduction case by brandishing a broom like a staff weapon. Goku uses a special staff weapon that he can command to shrink and grow. One of the Sherry's Soliloquies from the Burning Tent case was Haibara asking if Rumi's butt itched, which was her observing Rumi gripping her pants during the case, but I think it has the double meaning of her being the Monkey king and monkeys scratching their butts. (Also there was a New Years post card at the beginning of 2016 that just says "Of course its Son Goku!"(そりゃー悟空だよーーー!(笑)) ( https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wik ... 016_28.jpg ) that I don't know the context to, if anyone knows, please post. Rumi was introduced only a few months after that and I think the two things might be related)
I personally don't see the direct parallel here, since working your way up to a Demon monkey status doesn't sound similar to becoming younger. Also, Amanda was reported to be found dead in the kohji case website, which means that we are forced to look at an overly elaborate fake death plan (that doesn't have the advantage of an unrecognizable corpse), which seems highly unlikely. However, the "guarding the peaches of immortality" did directly remind me of Vermouth, and how she is "guarding" the hints of immortality(Shinichi and Sherry's shrinking). Not that direct either, but you can make anything of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Can't say that I agree that her head-bumps are a clear-cut parallel to the headaches either, but I guess it's close enough. As for the Rumi's weapon-holding pose with the rake however, that might just be a reference to it, seeing as they are both holding "everyday tools" as weapons, and it's definitely interesting how Gosho's butt joke has a monkey-like similarity to it. I'm extremely curious about the question for the "ofc it's Son Goku" reply now. This might just be the final cherry on top.
totally not a pun
jimmy_kud0_tv2 wrote:If Rumi is the one uploading the case she would definitely want to list herself as dead so no one would look for her and want to put blame of Kohji's (and her own) death on the only other person she knew was present, Asaka. Over the 17 year gap she may have even enlisted other people to help her solve the Kohji case such as Kuroda, explaining how they could know each, and this could also be a reason behind Kuroda's comma. After that I believe that she may have enlisted Wakita's help (see previous posts in this thread).
Amanda was found dead according to reports, so BO would have crossed her off anyway, before she "works herself up" in the BO as a new person(if that's the idea you are going with). However, the fact that we got to see her with the APTX victim list, similarly to how son goku got ahold of "the book of life and death"(which also has a list of names) is definitely an intriguing similarity, which might be playing into the references he making with Rumi. Since we are talking about references/inspiration though, there's always a limit to them, so it's not a must that the action of "crossing off from the list" is something that Rumi had to have done. But who knows... I'm personally suspecting that Rumi is looking for the potential-APTX-victim Asaka, who, despite being missing, was crossed off as dead (hence why Haibara said Shinichi was the only unconfirmed victim), so maybe "crossing off" Asaka's name is the parallel to JTTW.
jimmy_kud0_tv2 wrote:(@MeitanteixX, the above Rumi-Goku stuff is why I originally thought that the shogi piece in Rumi's butt pocket was the Hisha (rook) piece, since it means "flying chariot". I thought that this might be Gosho referring to Son Goku's flying cloud, being in her butt pocket which she would sit down on. However the piece actually ended up being the Ryuuma (promoted bishop) piece, which means "dragon horse", which probably refers to the part of Journey to the west where Goku turns the White dragon of the West sea, that attacks the group, into a horse that the priest rides on for the rest of the journey)
that's interesting, to say the least. Also something that might be playing into the references.

Kuroda does seem to fit with the general, what with the whole Tsutomu "reincarnating" with a scary face / changing himself to Kuroda theories and all.

this one sounds the least convincing, but I will wait for your full elaboration.
thank you for presenting this special discovery.
