I can't tell by views whether they've liked it or not. That's only because I've shared them with various other smaller groups. For all I know they could've simply looked at it, scoffed and moved on.

I read your past two journal entries on deviantart... I can see where this came from.

Yes—you really don't know how the readers of the story who didn't comment reacted to it... they could've scoffed and moved on, or they could've liked it, moved on, and made a mental note to comeback later.

This uncertainty probably discourages you to no end—why continue if no one notices? The question is, how much attention do you want, here? And, also, how often must you receive it?

With me, you've succeeded in your goal of grabbing attention and garnering appreciation—I want to know what happens next, and I appreciate you're responsible for this story's existence. (Side note: So many people complain about the Bourbon arc, but they never specify, even in broad points, how they would've done it—you are doing it... and I thank you for that. Criticism is one thing, but suggesting how to improve a work is important, as well.)

You've also gotten two DCTP users' attention with your announcement—they, too, have interest for this story. Certain people will just not notice other certain people—that's reality. But then, there are those who will... you have to answer the two questions I posed, earlier, and determine whether its enough for you to continue your work. If not, then I respect your decision, but I'll have to consider it a shame... but I understand that, for you, there's a limit. Not getting the attention you believe you've earned can do a number on you... but only you can decide how to respond.

Just know that I am aware of how you feel—someone is listening. :)

What I'm saying is that I'd like some amount of feedback, be it an encouragement or how the story can be improved pretty often, because otherwise, I believe the story isn't interesting at all to people and they're just saying to themselves they don't like it, because of the lack of favorites on any of the chapters on these writing sites compared to any other there. The fact that I can't illustrate a story and others that do are favored enrages me even more.

Enrages? So you feel you're being cheated? The "why does no one care about what I'm doing" problem? Others who you feel produce inferior quality work, in comparison to your own, but get more attention than you?

No, I never said any of them produce inferior quality work, I just feel I'm being sidestepped and that most of them are not interested in mine.

I was trying to get an answer to that question rather than insinuate anything.

And so it feels pointless, correct?

So, say, 1-10 people just isn't enough?

What would be for you to justify writing it?

I didn't even get faves on my latest chapter. The number of faves or followers I usually get is under 3 so, no that in particular, is not enough. It tells me that many don't find my material interesting, whether it's factual info or not. I can't read everyone's minds, so I'm in the dark in that respect.

4-5 faves or comments or so a chapter would actually be a miracle in my eyes, so that's pretty much my starting point. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me. I was actually unaware that Max and Darkest were following my story. My inbox on all of these sites are constantly empty, so it doesn't give me much motivation if it feels I don't have an interested audience.

Have you tried self-promotion? (Then again, from reading your deviantart journal entries, one had an emoticon of someone shouting at a wall and then someone else came up and dropped the wall on them, so you may feel that telling people to give feedback and favorite is useless.)

I could say that you should continue for the sake of those who may not comment, but do care—that you shouldn't simply leave this story unfinished... but that's just not enough, is it? You have goals in mind for your work—comments, favorites, recognition. Failing to reach those goals makes you question whether or not to move on to something else.

I don't know where you stand, in terms of how much time you have for things like this, but if you feel that continuing this story will damage you, then you shouldn't.

Is just one observer enough? Is their appreciation and thankfulness all that is needed? — I think all artists should ask themselves these questions. Do personal reasons matter? (physical/emotional/financial) Of course they do. But the desire to create art (whatever form it may take) should play a role... if that's not enough for you to keep this going, then end it. Don't waste your time doing something you have no desire to do, whatever the reasons may be.

Huzzah! Here's to you. ;D

Good to see you bring up things that Gosho let become skeletons in the closet. And you also have Shiho/Ai more in the loop—good idea.
