Go to the DCTP's main page, and look for DC Spoilers. Then the second chatbox.
Huh? What are you talking about?
There You will find a whole chapter instead of a few pictures ;).

Akai : 'You're always crying.'

Ran : 'Is it wrong ?'

If you take Akai's word as gospel... he'd only met her once before, and from that second meeting, inferred that that was what she did. I know, she responds in such a manner that suggests that she really does, but... ah, I probably should count up the times she does, and see if they are "legitimate" (taking YMMV into account, of course.)
Hehe, but You know... Akai met Ran two times. In two different continents. And Ran two times was crying. Something after all must be wrong with Ran ;).

But thanks Wakarimashita for the link. I completely forgot that Akai smokes. As Subaru we didn't see him smoking. I wonder if he quit.
It's just part of the 'we can't have characters smoking more than once every blue moon even when they were previously presented as heavy smokers' policy. If you remember in episode 219 Kid was unmasked as being Kogoro because he didn't smoke once during the whole case where as Kogoro is deemed a 'heavy smoker'. Nowadays, you can count with one hand the cases where he actually smokes.

Yeah, that's what I thought you were driving at. Sorry for implying that you take Akai's word as gospel.
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Translation/summary
Spoiler:
c6251555: basically it went like this
stupid kogoro stepped on poor ran's sakura shaped name tag so before a new one can be made,
Eri made a paper one for ran
but the stupid boy and Sonoko had a fight, and Sonoko snatched the paper sakura back from the boy but accidentally squashed it.
So Ran tries to make a new one when everyone else was napping but she was having a hard time, so she starts crying
well Ran was a little kid, and Shin called her a crybaby.
Ran got angry and told Shin to never call her a crybaby again cuz she is not.

That's the whole point in this arc!
My dad’s a soldier blue I’ll be a soldier, too
When I grow older you will see me rescue you
I’ll teach you this old song so you can sing along
When I am dead and gone the day won’t be so long.

Wow, people have managed to be extremely cynical even about this, a still untranslated chapter centered around preschoolers. Amazing.

It looks fun, and little kid Shinichi, Ran, and Sonoko are really cute. I wonder what's up with that weird woman and her relationship to the rest of the chapter. Well, in any case the translation should clear everything up when it comes out.

We could be cynical with a file with them still in the cradle. ;D

Wakarimashita wrote:Mediocre file :
Spoiler:
-Ran crying...again. A 4-5 year old girl crying for the dumbest things certainly makes sense but having a story of their first meeting where she wasn't forced into the role of the eternal crying girl would have been much better.
-Shinichi the eternal problem solver and it's portrayed awfully too : the panel with the kids looking up at Shinichi-sama has got to be one of the most idiotic panels in the history of this series.
tl;dr : Awful gimmicks for both characters. Cliché, cliché and more cliché.
-Flashback seems pulled out of nowhere. We'll see how that one ends up with the next files...

Positive aspect : presence of Eri and Yukiko...and that's about it. Ran looks nice on the cover too.
Spoiler:
I mostly agree with the above. It's disheartening that the first encounter between Shinichi and Ran is that Ran is crying and Shinichi solves something.
And yeah, that one panel actually infuriated me quite a bit. If it was Gosho's intention to make a visual of how Shinichi is well above everyone else (even as a bloody 4 years old), there's zero subtlety there. If Gosho didn't intend to do so, then he's completely oblivious to such an obvious implication. Regardless, it's really one of the worst panels ever.

I also hoped the flashback would be triggered less artificially, but nope, it happens because. There's zero followup to what happened at the end of the last file even though that sort of "cliffhanger" at least deserved a slight reaction.
I honestly wonder if Gosho originally intended to do these files after the last case, or he had a different plan but because of the breaks he changed his plans and decided to go with this flashback story instead.

From the Postcard/AC hint thread:
2015 February
1. After Detective Boys case, new series will be about the first time Shinichi and Ran met each other
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3601021575
So, I guess it was his plan all along. Maybe he originally didn't intend to have the DB case end with Kuroda and he changed that so that we'd be stuck on a cliffhanger for the long break or idk.

As for the spoiler stuff concerning the file:
Spoiler:
I'm not disheartened yet until the file is over. Let's see what other things happen during their first meeting (yes, I consider the first meeting to be more than just the cry-deduction scene)
